Shampoos are designed to remove all the dirt and oil from your hair. Conditioners are designed to leave your hair soft, silky and manageable.
Picking a conditioner can almost be as complex as picking a shampoo. If you want to have the gorgeous hair of celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, you have to have the right hair products for your hair type. Here’s an interesting side note. I don’t know if she still does, but Jennifer Aniston used to use horse shampoo and conditioner on her hair. You know the products they use to groom horses manes? That’s what she used because her hair was also full and long. And it worked! She has always had beautiful hair. So while you may not use conditioner designed for horses, there are several things that you will want to consider before you head out to buy a conditioner: your hair type, texture, color, condition, health and length. All of these factors work together to help you pick the conditioner that is just right for you. Look below for your hair type to find out more about what conditioner you should choose:
~Normal Hair- For normal hair, your options are endless. You can opt for creamy conditioner if you want extra body or normal conditioner if you just want to keep things simple. Another option is to use a shampoo-conditioner in one if you always find yourself being rushed in the mornings.
~Dry Hair- For dry hair, you will want to find a conditioner that is specially formulated to repair dull, unhealthy looking hair. You will also want to find a conditioner that will help restore moisture and vibrancy to the hair follicles. Look for rich, creamy formulas and use daily.
~Thinning Hair- You will not be able to find a magic formula for thinning hair in a shampoo or conditioner. However, it is possible to find a conditioner that will help to make your hair appear thicker. You will want to find a conditioner that promised to help make hair follicles fuller and more stable.
~Oily Hair- Many people who have oily hair think that they shouldn’t condition their hair at all because it will only make it appear oilier. Even if you do have oily hair, you should condition your hair. If you wish to condition you hair only every other time that you shampoo, that would be okay too.
There are many factors that you should consider when you are choosing a conditioner. Another important thing to consider is what type of shampoo you are using. It would probably we wise to use a conditioner that is the same brand and formula as your shampoo to ensure optimal results. Susan’s Spa had an interesting article about hair care that can supply helpful information about what products to use.

Yes, men can still use conditioner even if they have fine hair. There are products on the market that are specifically made for fine or limp hair, so those might be best to try. Aveda has some great conditioners for men, so give those a try.
