Everyone wants to have great hair, but the heat of summer can be especially hard on your lovely locks. So here are the top hair care tips for summer:
• Trim your hair at the beginning of summer even if you are trying to grow it out. Get rid of the dry ends on your hair before they turn into split ends and cause bigger problems!
• Use a hot-oil treatment at least twice a month. This will keep your hair shiny and healthy through the summer.
• Before you go out in the sun, use a heat-protectant spray on your hair to guard against UV rays.
• Don’t wash your hair every day. Let the natural oils in your hair accumulate; it’s healthy!
• Use a conditioner with an SPF. Sounds crazy, I know, but they exist and can protect your hair from the sun. If you can’t find conditioner with an SPF, brush a small amount of sunscreen into your hair.
• If you want to lighten your hair for the summer, try a little bit of lemon juice. It’s an old trick, but usually works.
• If you’ve recently had a perm, avoid getting chlorine in your hair. It could quite possibly turn green from the reaction between the chlorine and the perm chemicals.
• Leave-in conditioners can help prevent static-electricity from too much heat and sun.
• Instead of blow drying and curling your hair, give you hair a break. Try braids at night when your hair is damp for great waves the next day!
• Hair can get sunburn just like skin, so wear a hat if you’ll be outside for extended periods.
Hopefully these tips will help you keep your hair healthy and beautiful this summer!
