Summer is almost here so it’s time to review the hot makeup colors and tips for this year! Before you go and stock up on new colors and brands of makeup, talk to friends to see what they are recommending as well!
• Hot eye shadow colors for this season are pastels and shimmers. Plumb is a particularly hot color this year, and goes with almost any eye color and complexion!
• The hot look for eye liner this summer is the cat eye. Apply eye liner from the middle of your upper lash to just past the outer edges of your eyes. This look is a favorite of Paris Hilton.
• Your foundation should look natural, not caked on. Buy a foundation that has as light of coverage as you can manage and still conceals any blemishes. Or you can opt for just a tinted moisturizer instead.
• Lip glosses and lipsticks are also branching out into fun colors this summer. Bold reds and browns are especially hot. But remember that most of us can only have one feature accentuated, so don’t overdo it on both eyes and lips. Pick one at a time to have fun with and tone the other down a bit.
• A healthy summer glow is always in style, so use a touch of blush to bring color to your face. Apricot or peach make great blush colors, especially for those with lighter skin complexions. If you have a darker complexion, or wish you did, try a little bronzer.
• Remember the difference between day and evening makeup. Evening makeup doesn’t mean heavier, it means darker. So pick darker colors and shades for evening outings, don’t just layer on more of your usual colors.
So branch out this summer and try some fun new colors. Models are wearing everything from bright greens to light blues. While that may not be practical on a day-to-day basis, explore the options and try something new with your makeup this summer!

[…] • Exfoliate the dead skin from your lips to keep them healthy. Just like your other skin, your lips need you to keep the dead skin off in order to look their best! • Never lick your lips; it dries them out. Keep some lip balm on hand to combat any dry lips. • When choosing makeup colors, including lip colors, base your decision off your natural hair and skin tones, not what you are wearing that day. • Match your base lipstick and blush colors. This makes your makeup job look more even and balanced. • Put your lip liner on before your lipstick. • To make it easier to sharpen your lip liner pencil, put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes first. • Lip liner should never be darker than your lipstick. Pick a color that is the same, or a little lighter than the shade of your lipstick. • To make sure that your lipstick doesn’t get on your teeth, form an ‘O’ with your mouth and stick your index finger in your mouth. Close your lips around your finger and slowly pull your finger out. The extra lipstick will come off on your finger and leave your teeth clean and white!
