How to Prevent Dry Hands

It happens every winter and we all try to avoid it – dry hands are no fun and let’s face it, not very attractive either! So to help you keep your hands soft and moist this winter, despite the harsh weather and dry air, I’ve put together this list of Top Ways to Keep Your Hands from Drying Out.

1. Moisturize! I know it seems like it goes without saying, but using a quality lotion on a regular basis will help keep your hands healthy. The catch here is that you must be using a good, moisturizing lotion. Fun, smelly lotions are great, but aren’t very useful in keeping your hands healthy and can actually dry them out. My favorite brand of lotion is Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Healing Lotion. It is designed specifically for extra dry and sensitive skin. It is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic.

Just as your wardrobe changes between summer and fall, so should your skin care. The changes between the seasons can be hard on your skin, and in order to prevent autumn from taking a heavy toll, there are a few things you need to know and do! Here are some tips to help you keep your skin healthy this fall, in preparation for winter!

1. If you have been using a lotion on your skin, kick it up one notch to a cream. Fall can be a very drying time for the skin, so add more moisture than you have been using.
2.Always apply lotion to your hands after washing them, or they will become dry and cracked. Soft hands are always better than cracking, dry hands!
3. Take preventative steps to make sure your lips don’t become dry and cracked. It is harder to repair dry lips than to prevent them. Use a moisturizing lip balm on a regular basis.
