Pureology Antifade Complex Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner Review

My hair had been really dry and dull, I blamed it on the fact that it was getting hotter outside and I had gone longer than normal without getting my hair colored. Was that really the cause of the problem, I honestly have no idea, but it made me feel better about my hair dilemma! I decided that I would try to switch out my shampoo and conditioner and see if that made any difference.

I decided to go with Pureology, I actually use this shampoo several years ago when I was in college, but quit because it got too expensive for my college student budget. I remember that I really liked it back then, so I splurged (I think it was about $70 for both the shampoo 10.1 Fl. Oz. and conditioner 8.5 Fl. Oz.) and left the beauty supply store excited to wash my hair!

At first, I loved this stuff! My hair started looking healthier, shiny, my color wasn’t fading and I loved that such a little amount went so far, I have thick hair to the middle of my back and seriously only needed about a quarter size squirt for my thick long hair. I love the minty smell because it is so refreshing, and keeps my scalp from getting itchy. The problem that I had with this shampoo and conditioner is that the longer that I used it, the more my hair seemed to be getting dry again. So, I started using this only a few times a month and am back to loving it again. As long as I don’t use this every time I wash my hair, I still really like it.

I am not quite sure if I am going to repurchase this,  I am leaning more towards not repurchasing it. If I am going to pay that much for Shampoo and Conditioner then I want to be able to use it more regularly and have great results. I really like the conditioner, so maybe I will try using that with a different shampoo and see if I like that.

Have you tried Pureology products? What did you think? What is your favorite shampoo and conditioner?

So I started trying Pureology because I was asked to be a hair model (aka hair experiment) for a Pureology conference. I got a free hair dye and free product to try. Liked it, but like you said had a few issues with it so didn’t go buy it on my own when I ran out. Didn’t really like the smell, felt like it may have extended my color a little but not enough to off-set the price, thought I’ve definitely used better hydrating conditioners. All-in-all, totally agree Ali.
