Pop Sensation Shakira

Shakira is one of the most popular musicians to come from Latin America. The famous pop singer is from Columbia and has been singing and writing songs since she was 8 years old.

Shakira made her crossover to the English market in 2001 with her album, Laundry Service. Since then, she has received many awards and had a few of her songs high on the charts.

Shakira was recently recognized at the United Nations for her work with a charity she started, Pies Descalzos Foundation, which works to protect Columbian children from violence. Also, just last week on April 27th, Shakira won 6 Latin Billboard awards, the most of anyone that night.

Shakira has been engaged since 2001 to the son of the former president of Argentina, Antonio de la Rúa. She wants to have two children, a boy and a girl, some day.

She has also done the makeup for Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, and American Idol, to name just a few. She is one of the industry’s best makeup artists and is always in high demand. Alexis uses a combination of her own brand of makeup and MAC to create Shakira’s flawless look.

I think my favorite song by Shakira is Ojos Asi. I remember listening to that song in Spanish class in college and loving it. Ah, memories…..
