On The Road: Solutions For Your Skin

This summer has been the ultimate travel summer for our family. During July, we were gone every single weekend for a family reunion or trip of some kind. I’ll admit it’s a bit tiring, but it has been a lot of fun.

With all of the traveling, it has also been hard to keep up my normal skin-care routine. This is because I would have to pack a separate suitcase just to pack all of the toiletries I use at home. I have found that a great solution for cutting down on the bulk is buying a pack of facial cleansing wipes.

Just think about your daily facial cleansing routine. I have a big bottle of cleanser. Then, I have a big bottle of toner. Then, I sometimes use a bottle of exfoliant cleanser. Then, I have my daily and nightly moisturizer. So, particularly if you are flying and taking carry-on luggage, wipes are a great way to significantly cut down on your allowable liquid containers.

Also, they are perfect if you are on a camping trip. No need for juggling the water and squirting face wash into my hands while trying not to drop the flashlight, all the while bending over the bushes (I hope you can picture it). All I had to do this time was pull out a wipe and wha-la my skin was refreshed and my makeup off. I do find that I still need my daily moisturizers, so don’t forget to pack them in your bag.

Tried and True:

You will find tons of different brands and types of facial wipes on the market. It’s both a good thing and a bad thing. You are bound to find a formula that is exactly what you are looking for, but you may have to try quite a few to find the one you like the most. Here are the few that I’ve tried and liked:

  • Nutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes: Great a removing eye makeup and cleaning the face. May not be as gentle on the skin as other brands I have used that are more specifically made for sensitive skin.

Nutrogena Facial Wipes

  • Olay Daily Facials Cleansing Cloths: Nice and moisturizing. Removed my foundation and eye shadow but still had residue from my mascara and eyeliner.

Olay Daily Facial Wipes

  • Simple Cleansing Wipes: Not great again at removing eye makeup, but very gentle on my skin and left it feeling very clean and refreshed. By far the most gentle facial wipe.
