Maybe you were up late last night…or have allergies, too high of salt intake, have been crying, or just are stressed out. We all know that life can be hard and sometimes your eyes get the brunt of it. What ever the cause, if you have puffy eyes in the morning, there are a few things you can do to alleviate the swelling. Here are some simple things that only take a minute!
1. Splash cold water on your face as soon as you wake up. Make it as cold as you can stand it. You can even add ice cubes if you are tough enough!
2. Cucumber slices! This is one of my favorites. Just get a nice cold cucumber and slice two thick slices (about ½ inch each), lay down, and place them on your eyes. Leave them on for about 5 minutes.
3. Tea bags. Take two tea bags, soak them in water, wring them out, and leave them in the freezer until they are cold. Then place them on your eyes for about 20 minutes.

4. If your eyes are puffy because you’ve been eating too much salt, drinking lots of water and other fluids is the key. Too much salt leads to water retention, which leads to puffy eyes. As strange as it may seem, drinking lots of water will actually flush the salt out of your system and decrease your water retention.
5. Aloe gel or cream can work to relieve puffy eyes too.
6. A nice eye massage can help. Close your eyes and place your thumbs on either side of the bridge of your nose and press gently. Then pull up around the semicircles of your eyelids to get rid of any excess fluid trapped there. Does this 10 times.
Here are a couple of things not to do:
1. Don’t use hemorrhoid cream. You may think that it will decrease puffy eyes, but it won’t and it’s not safe to use near your eyes.
2. Don’t leave your contact lenses in overnight. This can lead to puffy and irritated eyes.
Now you are ready for your day! With no puffy eyes! Good luck ladies, no one will ever know!
