Since the day I met my husband, I have always known he has three loves in his life — God, his family, and college football. I was never a college football fan until I met him. Now, I don’t have much of a choice. It was either learn to love the game or find something to do on my own, Thursday and Friday nights, and all day Saturday from the end of August into the first couple weeks of January.
So over the last four years, I have learned to love the game and his favorite team, the Boise State Broncos. Of course, it hasn’t been hard to do, watching Coach Pete, Kellen Moore and the Muscle Hamster, Doug Martin week after week. I have attended several BSU games in person, watching the Broncos dominate on the blue turf (except that one time against TCU last year), and even traveled over 2,000 miles to watch them play Virginia Tech at FedEx Field in 2010.
I stayed up half the night with my husband doing math calculations, trying to determine if Kyle Brotzman really did miss that field goal against Nevada. And then comforted him the rest of the night as he cried himself to sleep after such a disappointing loss.
The first gifts we received when we found out we were having a baby, was BSU gear. As soon as we found out it was a girl, I made sure she had a game day bow to wear as well. Daddy always says blue and orange are the colors that look best on his girls.
And so it begins again … another season of college football. Tonight is our first kickoff of the season, with almost a brand new starting lineup. I am eager to see how the No. 24 rank Broncos do against No. 13 rank Michigan State Spartans. Every game day this season you will see me sporting my blue and orange ready to cheer on MY Broncos.
This season, the baby girl and I will be sporting some new game day accessories we have acquired over the last year. Included in our new game day apparel is a pair of Boise State earrings for me, and a bracelet and necklace for the little one.
