Skinz-Nail Adhesives
Have you ever tried the new nail adhesives? I ventured out to the wonderful prints that Skinz has to offer and I must say that I have been VERY pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think that they would actually last very long, but I have been wearing my flats (that usually rub my polish right off) and they haven’t even budged. They are so easy to use and the application is so simple. All I had to do was apply the sticker design to my toe nail and then trim off the excess edges with my cuticle scissors (or you could even use nail clippers) and then heat them with the blow dryer and I was good to go. I would definitely recommend these to a friend. They have been long lasting and don’t chip off like regular nail polish. I’m anxious to try them on my daughter (who can NEVER keep polish on) to see if they last for her as well…I’ll let you know!

I know that this site is all about beauty secrets, so I want to share with you one that is not your traditional beauty secret, but one that I feel is ever so important! Let’s talk about your smile. Of course you can always line your lips and fill them in so they look lip smacking luscious. But what’s underneath is what I feel really matters. Your smile, what I mean by that is your pearly whites.
A few years ago I went to a volleyball tournament. A girl we played with had the whitest teeth. Finally after staring at them all weekend I finally got up the courage to ask her what she did to get them so white. She laughed! Here we had all thought she had professional whitening and it was merely using Arm & Hammer Complete Care Toothpaste. She revealed to us that she was thinking about getting some professional whitening herself. She totally didn’t need it! The next time I was at the store I got myself some Arm and Hammer Toothpaste.
The first time I used it, the taste caught me off guard. I had never used toothpaste that contained baking soda. It was interesting, but I soon got used to it and I instantly noticed a difference. My teeth felt cleaner than ever before, other than after a dental cleaning, of course. My mouth also felt fresh long after where the other pastes would last. This may sound a little weird, but my teeth just didn’t feel as dirty in between brushings. I would say that my teeth have definitely gotten whiter. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they look like I had them done professionally, but for the price I’m impressed. You have to brush your teeth anyways…may as well get them a little whiter!
I will never switch brands again. One time I ran out and had to use another brand that I had on hand…let’s put it this way, I won’t run out again.
Skin Moisturizing That’s Worth Talking About
We are coming out of the bitter cold months of winter, and if your skin is anything like mine…it’s thirsty! My lotion of choice? It definitely has to be Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. I know you may be asking how does a cream equal a lotion? It doesn’t. It conquers it! Even though it may be considerably thicker, it still rubs in every bit as easily as lotion, but hydrates far longer. I use it all over my body as well as for a facial moisturizer. Works wonders on my dry skin, even my cracked heels that soak up the Cetaphil. It keeps them soft and supple.
One thing that is worth pointing out is that a lot of doctors prescribe Cetaphil and Aquaphor for skin ailments like Eczema. It works as well as the prescription strength topical ointments, but for a fraction of the price. It’s nice because it kind of locks in moisture, and makes a barrier so it won’t wash off.
You have to pay special attention to the ingredients when purchasing your moisturizer. You always want your first few ingredients to include a few things like water, petrolatum, and glycerin. If you see any types of alcohol, like benzyl alcohol, up in your main ingredients, put it back on the shelf. It will dry your skin out worse than it already is.
We all love our scented lotions and creams from our favorite box stores in the mall and online, but unfortunately they don’t compare when it comes to overall skin hydration. Don’t get me wrong, they smell wonderful, but I find myself having to reapply lotion half way through the day. When I use the Cetaphil cream however, I can go at least one full day if not more without needing more. If you are looking for a great overall moisturizer, I recommend Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.
Some Kind-A-Gorgeous
Before you take my word for it, you should know I’m a minimalist. I don’t like stuff. I
prefer everything simplified—that goes for makeup too. Some Kind-A-Gorgeous from
Benefit Cosmetics meets my beauty needs and fits my minimalist requirements too.
I prefer not to wear a foundation, but sometimes a girl just has to step it up a little. In
those instances Some Kind-A-Gorgeous, also called a foundation faker is perfect. It’s a
light foundation and powder all in one product (so there’s less stuff to store in the make
up kit.)
I love it, and here’s why.
- Easy to apply. Even if you’re not a seasoned makeup pro you can easily pat it on
with the included sponge applicator or your fingertips. Pat, rub, perfect.
- Starts out creamy, finishes light and powdery. The metamorphic makeup makes
it easy to apply evenly, and feels light on your skin.
- Light and transluscent. Some Kind-A-Gorgeous gives a natural, yet even and
smooth look because it’s transluscent and light.
- Three shades. Many people complain that there are only three shades: Light,
Medium, and Dark. But my minimalist side rejoices over the simplicity. Because
the makeup if so delicate and light, you truly can acheive a perfect match with just
three shades to choose from. I use medium, and it’s perfect. Trust me.
There are a couple of cons. Nothing major, but to be fair, I should mention my
complaints.
- The price. At $30 a compact I have to give myself a little pep talk about the
importance of buying reliable, quality products, every time I have to restock my
supply of the stuff.
- I wish it came with a second applicator sponge.
