I don’t know if you caught Britney Spear’s interview with Matt Lauer of NBC yesterday, but it was quite interesting, I thought. She certainly wants to paint a different picture of her life than the magazines and tabloids have been painting over the past year.
While we’ve been reading headlines about Britney’s failing marriage, her new nanny, and all of her mommy mistakes, Britney argues that her life’s not really like that. She says her marriage is awesome and that she loves Kevin. And that it hurts her that the rest of the world wants their marriage to end. Britney also said that she’s a good mom and that everybody makes mistakes, it’s just that the whole world isn’t watching them like they are her.
Britney is upset at the press, to the point of begging them to leave her alone. She wants to have privacy and respect, but doesn’t she realize that you can’t have it all? Normal, private citizens have respect and privacy, but it seems unreasonable for her to expect to be rich (and she admitted in the interview that she loves money) and famous and not have the attention of the press. After all, they are just trying to do their jobs too, and their job is to get pictures and stories that sell money.
So my final thoughts after the interview….I feel bad for Britney, but she chose this life and she has to accept the consequences. Media attention is the price you pay for having millions and millions of dollars and being a pop icon. And she does seem to almost create crazy stories for the media. How are they supposed to stay away from Vegas marriages, one baby after another, and an apparently bum husband?
