Hair Care
Have you ever seen What Not To Wear? Well if not all it is really is a guy and a girl who get phone calls from people if they don't like the looks of their friends or family, like how the dress and stuff. So basically they throw out there whole wardrobe and give them a $5000 dollar shopping spree to buy on clothes and shoes and acceroies. After that they do their hair and makeup. Anyway this one episode they have a girl and she's dyed her hair a lot (like me exept highlight a lot)and the guy that does the hair has to cut off the damaged parts and re-dye it properly. I think that's what my hair needs. But what would you call that? I also wanted my hair layered and re-dyed again in April. Please tell me you get what I'm saying!!
I think I have heard of that show, but I've never seen it. I do understand what you're saying. I'm not sure there's a specific name for what you want done. I would just go to the salon and explain that you want layers and would like to be sure to trim off the damaged hair. As far as the coloring goes, do you usually color your own hair, or do you go to a salon? If you wait until April, that should be plenty of time for your hair prepare to be colored again. You might even consider going into a salon for a free consultation. You could explain what you are looking for, and see how possible it is. Again, sorry I don't know exactly what that is called, but I understood what you wanted when you explained it to me, so I am sure that I professional hair stylist will understand as well. Good luck!
My hair turned out great. But I still see some blond in my highlights. How long should I wait until I re-dye my hair the same colour? I was thinking in April is that long enough?
I'm so glad it turned out and that you like it! Waiting until April is long enough to re-dye your hair. It is recommended that you wait at least 2-3 months, and the longer the better!
Since I'm dyeing my blond hair light brown, what about my hair that's already brown? I just want it one colour, the colour it is at the top of my hair. But I'm afraid of making it lighter. Please help!
There are two things you should keep in mind as you color you hair this light brown color. First, the only real problem I have seen with hair color not turning out well, or going on evenly is when you are trying to color over hair that is partly bleached. That usually presents a problem. But since your hair is not bleached, right?, you should be ok. The second thing to think about is the different shades of brown. Is the brown in your hair right now darker than the brown you want to put in? I can see how that might present a problem. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to dye your hair a light color over a darker color. But if the browns are a similar shade, or if the brown in your hair right now is lighter than the brown you are adding, I think it will work well!
Since I'm dyeing my hair, won't I half to use a colour treated shampoo and conditioner? But I still have frizzy hair! My hair isn't dry, but it's just frizzy! Help!
What product do you use right now for your hair? Does it help control the frizz? Dove has a new line of shampoos and conditioners out that is for color treated hair and it sounds like it should be able to help with the frizzy problem as well. But that depends on how frizzy your hair is. The Dove shampoo is called Dove Advanced Color Care for Hair Colored Darker or Similar to its Natural Shade. I know it's a mouthful, but I love Dove products, and this set of shampoo and conditioner should leave your hair soft and smooth. It comes in a pink bottle, if that helps. Good luck!
I've think I'm going to go with light brown from Natural Instincts by Clairol. Is this a good product or choice?
That sounds like a great choice to me. I've never actually used that brand, but I've heard good things about it and the color sounds just right from what you've described. Let me know how it turns out!
I'm thinking of dyeing or highlighting my hair. But I don't know what to do. I have light brown hair on the outside of my air but on the inside it's dark brown. It's also dark brown at the top. The blond higlights I put in a while ago are slowly coming out. So it's a dirty blond on the outside layer, with dark brown on the inside layer, dirty blond at the bottom and dark brown at the top. My eyebrows are dark brown. So it doesn't really match. I heard you're suppose to stay close to your eyebrow colour. So I either want to dye my hair a brown shade or re-highlight it blond. But nothing red, black or too blond or too brown. Please help!
As long as it's been at least two months since the last time you had it
highlighted, I would recommend
dyeing your
hair brown. Since it matches your eye brows, you already have tried blonde highlights, and some of your hair is already brown anyways, it sounds like it will look great. That, and I have always loved brown hair, so I must admit that I have a weakness for recommending people go brown. Especially with it being
Fall with Winter right around the corner, I would go brown. Save the blonde highlights for spring and summer. But again, make sure that it has been at least a couple of months since you got your highlights, or else the brown dye might not color your hair evenly. The longer you wait between coloring your hair, the better. Oh, I'm so excited, I think your hair is going to look great! I love brown hair! I'm blonde, so I get jealous when women have gorgeous, dark, hair. Are you going to do this yourself, or go to a
salon? I agree with you that you don't want to go too dark brown. It's hard because I don't know what brand you will be using if you do color your own hair at home, but I am picturing something like Loreal Feria Underground Brown or Brownstone. Good luck!
A month ago, I moved to a new apt. complex. For the first time in 25 years (if ever), I now have *softened* water. I HATE IT! I have thin, fine light brown hair, and I keep it short, double-process highlighted, and it is cut into a style that really is low-maintenance, and keeps it looking much thicker. I'd get out of the shower, put a little root mousse, or some thickener, actually almost any good volumizing product, and I seldom had to do more than a 2 minute blow-dry with a diffuser, and a couple quick turns of the curling iron in the bangs. It fell right into place.
Now, it's flat, will not curl, holds none of its natural wave, and just sticks straight up after I dry it. The manager said the water-softener is only in the hot water, so I at least rinse it in cold water (every other day). But I'm very frustrated. I've asked at Sally's Beauty Supply, my hairdresser - I can find no products that exist to remove water softener from hair. Two gals in the Health Food Store said they have the very same problem, and have found no solution, so I know I'm not alone. HELP!!
Thanks much!
Marty
Well, Marty, I am having a hard time knowing what to tell you. Your hair is different now because it's missing all the minerals from the hard water and I am not aware of any products that add minerals to your hair. From the research I've been doing, it seems that soft water is better for your hair because you don't get the build-up and deposits of grime in your hair that you do with hard water. I don't know of and can't find any ways to unsoften your water or to reverse the affects of soft water. I am really sorry I can't be of more help, but I will keep researching this and let you know if I find anything!
Hey it's Kayla, I have wavy hair with a bit of curliness (curls), and I have dry ends at the bottom of my hair, and frizziness at the top and throughout my hair, and my hair is sort of puffy (not really I think it's more frizzy). I want it to be straight with no frizz, no curls and a few waves. I use Dove products for my hair do they have anything that could help my hair? If not, what should I use (any home remedies, products)?
Dove does have a few different products that work well to control frizz and curls. You can try Smooth and Soft Anti-Frizz Cream or Intense Frizz Control Cream. Also, I don't know what Dove shampoos and conditioners you are using right now, but from the way you described your hair, it sounds like you should be using Advanced Care Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. It will help tame the frizz even more by adding extra moisture to your hair. Using all these Dove products together should help tame your hair and get you the desired results. But just for fun, here is one way to treat your frizzy hair from home. You can rub coconut oil in your hands and then apply it to your hair to tame frizz, but don't use too much or your hair will just look greasy. Good luck Kayla, have a great day!
My hair is naturally dark dirty blond and I have bleached the entire thing for about a year now, I then last week tried to go to a light brown to stop the all over bleaching but all the roots are orangy and the rest is greenish. My hair is now of course multi length to my chin. Can I re-lighten my hair? I have a lot of extensions I use but they were all blond. My hair is fairly thin too. I use a reconstructer a lot too. My hair is damaged, but I am too fair to go a dark brown to even it out that way.
I think it should be ok for you to re-lighten your
hair, but I would wait for at least two weeks from the last time that you
colored it. You have to be careful since you have thin hair and since it is already damaged. The color may be bad now, but it's better than all your hair falling out if you treat it too much! Just as a side note, dark brown hair with fair skin looks really great! But adding a darker color to your hair might not work right now over the orange and green, so I would go lighter for now (in a week or two, of course!) and then let your hair recover for a while before trying anything else. Good luck!
So. I have question about colouring my hair. It's quite urgent, because I need to know if I can do it in a few hours or after a month or so. It's not like I haven't dyed my hair before - that's exactly the problem. I've had so much done to my hair that my mom thinks it'll turn out orange if I go blond... again.
The story for the hair on me now is that it's been blond for a long time. My real hair colour is pretty dark and a bit grayish. In May I coloured it with a pretty dark brown 24-wash colour. After it washed out, I dyed again with the same shade. I went to a hairdresser, and came out with a permanent brown that can't be described blond or brunette (we didn't really understand each other...). It's been over a month. So - is it too early to bleach again? We're having our pictures taken for school tomorrow.
Well, if your
hair can't be described as brown or blond, I am assuming that it isn't very dark brown. In that case, and since it has been a month, you should be fine to bleach your hair. The minimum time you should wait before
coloring your hair again is two weeks, and since it has been over that, I would say that you should be safe. Good luck with school pictures!
Hi. i just got highlights in my hair at a salon and instead of the color that i asked for which was a chocolate brown shade the highlights were like a orangy brown shade and i think its too bright against my skin. My natural hair color is black. How do u think i can fade my too bright highlights fast before school starts? Which is in 6 more days. Please Help. Thanks! xx
Well, highlights usually have some sort of peroxide in them (that's how they lighten your hair), so you can't really fade them. You can try using a strong
shampoo to see if that will help fade the highlights. Also, I've heard of a product called the Malibu Treatment that is supposed to take all unnatural colors out of your hair, but I've never tried it. I think can buy it at some place like Sally Beauty. Also, you can go to a hairstylist and see if a chemical wash will be able to help you strip the color.
Hi im 13 and i use loreal anti dandruff shampoo but still i have little white flakes in my hair how can i get rid of this??
also do you know the average price in hairdressers for getting a layered cut...by the way i think making the new website wud be a great idea!
Thanks for your feedback! One great brand of
shampoo to try is
Tegrin. They are specifically designed to get rid of white flakes in your hair. Also, here are some fun home remedies to try for dandruff. Mix a spoonfull of lemon juice with two spoonfulls of vinegar and massage this into your scalp, then rinse it out with shampoo. Fresh lime juice, applied after your shampoo your hair, is also a great way to get rid of dandruff. As for the price of a hairdresser, depending on your budget, you can get a get layered cut from anywhere between $10-$40 at most
salons. I have tried a wide variety of places and here's what I've found. If you live in a city that has a hair school, like Paul Mitchell, you can get an appointment to have a student cut your hair and it is really cheap, usually around $10, but keep in mind that they aren't the most experienced. I've always had a good experience when I've tried this. Or you can go to a classic haircut place like Super Cuts or Fantastic Sams. In my experience, a layered cut at a place like this should run between $15 and $25. These should all include shampoos before the cut, by the way, and most include styling afterwards. If you want to spend a little more, you can go to a salon. I always get my hair cut at a local salon in our mall now, because they do my hair better than anyone I've been to. I usually spend between $35-$40 for a cut, but it also comes with a scalp massage, which I love! So there you go, you have a few options, and you can pretty much pay whatever you choose, depending on where you decide to go. Good luck!
I really want my hair cut shorter because now it is very long (half way down my back). im confused though because i dont want to regret it afterwards. i have a roundish face, very dark eyes, tanned skin and smallish lips. i want something a little different but still stylish. thanks x
It sounds like you've got a lot to work with, so that's a great start! With a round face, you want to keep your
hair off of your face. The goal is to create a
hairstyle that will add length to your face. You can choose to have short or long hair, either works well with round faces. If your hair is already half way down your back and you want to go shorter, I would suggest an above the shoulders cut, with layers. Layers, especially on top of your head, make your face appear longer and thinner. I would avoid bangs (remember to keep your hair off your face!), but lots of different layers, especially in the back, will look great. One look that is stylish right now, but isn't your typical
haircut, is the piecey, straight, choppy look with jagged ends and blunt cuts. I think it looks great and it sounds like it would be really flattering with your face shape. If you go with this look, cut your hair about chin length at the longest layer. Here's the link for my favorite picture of this hairstyle: http://hairstyles.free-beauty-tips.com/medium3.shtml. Good luck!
Hi me again it's Claudia I was wondering If you have any suggestions for hairstyle But, I'm talking about more like hairstyles, hairstyles not haircuts, like pony tails, braids etc... what more ideas do you suggest me??? I have bangs at the front of my face, but till chin lenght and my hair is a short round U at the back. u know just for school.. well hope to receive ur respond sone!!!!
Since you have short
hair, one great look is to flip the ends out and add lots of volume to the top of your hair. Side swept bangs are also really in right now, so instead of letting your bangs stay in front, sweep them to the side of your face and let them hang over one eye. Another great
hairstyle idea is to
dry your hair with a round brush and then clip part of your hair back. To get a great straight hairstyle with blunt, distinct edges, dry your hair with a flat paddle brush. One really cute style that I have seen a lot lately, especially with short hair, is two side ponytails, one just behind each ear. This looks fun and sporty on girls with short hair. I hope these suggestions help! Good luck!
Hey it's Kayla, when you said Suave was bad for your hair, that means hairspray to right?
No, as far as I am aware, Suave hairspray is not bad for your hair. It's just an ingredient in their
shampoo and
conditioner that is not healthy for your hair. Their hairspray should be fine!
Hi, I recently cut my hair into layers and it looks really nice but once you wash it it freezese up my hair is naturally wavy and I've tried to use all the products I can but none get ridd of my hair freezing what do you recomend me???
The best way to get the wave and frizziness out of your
hair would be to use heat. My hair does the same thing after I wash it. I have to
blow dry my hair with straightening product in it in order to get it to be smooth and flat. After you have dried your hair, you can also use a
flat iron to smooth out any remaining frizz. If your hair is really frizzy and won't calm down, you can get it chemically straightened. It's kind of like a
perm, only they use the chemicals to make your hair straight instead of curly. I would try lots of heat first, though. And be sure you are using moisturizing
shampoo and
conditioner. Often hair gets frizzy because it doesn't have enough moisture. Plus, with all the drying and straightening, your hair will need all the extra moisture it can get. Good luck!
Hey it's me Kayla again, I was also wondering, is Suave a good product for hair and body? I also have frizzy hair and split ends. Do you know any natural ways or not so expensive products I could use?
Suave is not very good for your hair. Their
shampoos and
conditioners contain ingredients that strip your hair of its natural oils. Their body products are fine to use, though. If you are looking for a good shampoo that is really cheap, you can try VO5, or Herbal Essences.
Herbal Essences is nice because it has more natural ingredients.
Dove is another really good brand, but it costs a litte bit more. Good luck Kayla!
Hi, actually I've got straight hair but my problem is that I have been making plaits since quite a long time and now it seems as my hairs are curly and I don't like it. Can you suggest me a way how I can get my straight hair back!
Well, there are chemicals that you can use to straighten your
hair. It is like getting your hair
permed, only they use the chemicals to straighten your hair instead of creating curls. If you don't want to pay that much money, you can buy products that straighten curly or frizzy hair. Heat also helps to straighten hair, so use a
blow dryer to get the curls out! Best luck!
Hey my name is Hailey, I have naturally curly hair and it's long too. Every time I try to blow dry my hair it goes crazy!!!! It just frizzes and poofs right up and then I have to end up straightening it which takes forever. Is there any really good products that could help me??
One product that I have heard works wonders with curly and frizzy
hair is Biosilk hair serum. Now, keep in mind I haven't tried it because I don't have curly hair (I am so jealous, I've always wanted my hair to be curly!). But the people who I know who have used it have loved how soft and manageable it makes their hair. You can put it in your hair and
blow dry for best results! Good luck Hailey!
I would love to have the same hairstyle as Jennifer Aniston but I can never find a picture of how her hair looks or any celebrity in the back, only a front view of the style. How do you think her hair is cut in the back???
I love her
hair as well! The best I could find was a shot of the side of her head. You can kind of see what the
haircut looks like in the back. It looks like she has shorter layers cut into her long length that start at about chin length to create a rounding effect in back. Here's the link for the picture of her hair. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/entertainment/2006-08/06/content_657975.htm. Good luck!
Hola! I am 14 and I have extremely frizy hair! I have tried several things but none of them work! I spent all my money on these items...so if you have any suggestions that won't cost me hardly anything... well I would really apreciate it!
Thanks!!
The important thing to remember with frizzy
hair is that it tends to be dry, so always use moisturizing
shampoo and
conditioner. Another way to help control frizzy hair is to use Velcro rollers. Put the rollers in your dry hair and
blow dry with them in. Another thing I have heard is excellent is to use Biosilk hair serum and then blow dry your hair and
flat iron it if necessary. If you already have a hair dryer and flat iron, those will be your most effective tools for calming your frizzy hair. Just be sure to use that moisturizing shampoo and conditioner because all the heat will dry your hair right out!
I sprunch my thick hair all the time but I just get waves that flatten really easy. For a girl that has very little time in the mornings but wants curls really bad whats your advice? P.S. Just a senctence would be great!
Well, one thing that I like to try is to shower at night and then while my hair is still damp, put it up in a bun and sleep like that. In the morning, pull it down and apply a scrunching product of your choice and scrunch! Here's a tip for applying product to your
hair: don't apply it to the roots (unless it's a spray) because it will weigh your hair down and pull out the curl. Also, don't apply product to dripping wet hair because it will drip out with the water. Sorry, I know this was longer than one sentence, but I tried to be a brief as possible! :) Oh, and if you want more curls that badly, I would consider a
perm!
Hi. I'm a 16 year old girl. I've pretty much dyed my hair many colours. Recently I tryed bleaching my hair. I bleached it twice and decided all blonde hair wasn't my thing. Later on that same day I dyed it two times with a dark brown. My hair still isn't the colour I want and it's very fried. I need help on what I can do to calm it down and make it not so frizzy! Also do you think I should cut the ends because they kind of break off. And they feel really bad. I flat iron my hair every day and my bangs won't seem to go down anymore either. Basically I need a lot of help!
It sounds like you have done a lot of damage to your
hair recently. The best thing you can do is to let your hair recover from all the chemicals for a while. I wouldn't
color your hair for at least three more months, and I think
trimming the ends is a great idea. That really is the best way to get rid of damaged ends. As far as the friz goes, and the
flat ironing, you will have to use a very moisturizing
conditioner to keep your hair healthy. You may want to try a leave in conditioning spray as well. A product that is specifically designed for use with heat styling would be preferred. Also, if you
blow dry your hair and flat iron it, here's a little trick to help it be more healthy. Take a shower at night, so in the morning, your hair is still slightly damp. Then, you don't have to give it as much heat to get it dry. Good luck!
Hi, I just got a perm less than 24 hrs ago. I work in a dental office as an assistant. I have constant spray and spatter in the air which goes into my hair. For infection control purposes would I be alright to use a shampoo that does not contain alkaline or other chemicals. I have some shampoo and conditioner by Loma which is professional and is natural. Would this be okay to use or must I wait the full 48 hrs as recommended.
It should be fine for you to use the natural shampoo on your hair, especially if you wait 24 hours since you got the perm. The first 24 hours are the most critical, so you should be fine after that to use a very gentle shampoo on your hair. Have a great day!
I had my hair permed about two weeks ago. How soon can I color it?
I would recommend waiting for at least two months to
color your hair, for the health and protection of your hair.
Perming and coloring
hair too close together can damage hair and may even cause it to fall out!
Hi, I have thick black wavy hair which is very dry and difficult to manage and my hair tends to be so dry and frizzy. Can you suggest products that I can use to make my hair straight and smooth with that sleek look. I have purchased a Nicky Clarke straightening iron but I am unsure what else I should use. It's been months since I purchsed it but I am soo afraid that using it might damage my hair. Please help me, I have a very important party coming up in my family and I want to look my best. Please.
The first thing I would suggest would be to use a moisturizing
shampoo and
conditioner if you aren't already. Also, do a deep conditioning treatment once a week. To help control any excess frizz, use products with silicon. Some products that I have tried and love are
Dove,
Aveda, or
Paul Mitchell. It should be fine for you to use your
flat iron to straighten your hair. Yes, heat is damaging to your hair, but if you are keeping your
hair healthy, it can afford to be straightened with a flat iron. I would recommend not using both a
hair dryer and the flat iron. Let your hair air dry and then use the flat iron to control the frizz. Good luck!
Hi. I went from natural dark brown to dye yellow blond. I didn't like the results. It looks orange blond, how long do I have to wait to die my hair black? Please email me back, I need help real bad...
For best results, you need to wait three months between
hair coloring jobs. Otherwise your hair could be severely damaged. It might start to fall out, or it could turn an even worse color. I know it's no fun to wait when you don't like your hair color, but do your best to be patient! Good luck!
Hi , my name is Jessica and I am 17 years old and I'm tring to find a haircut that would look great on me but I'm not sure what would because I have a long square face and I don't really like short hair so if you could help me and tell me what kind of haircut you think would look best on me please e-mail me back some tips.
With a long face you don't want to have too long of
hair because it will make your face seem longer. But since you don't like short hair, I would recommend going with a shoulder-length
cut with layers. Layers work really well for long and square faces, because it makes long faces seem shorter and square faces seem more round. You could even do sweeping side bangs, which are huge right now and would look amazing with your face structure. Good luck!
My hair smells like wet dog after I received a perm, help! What can I do to get rid of this smell? Thank you so much!
Perm chemicals definitely don't smell good. It's the ammonia that is causing it to smell that way. To get rid of the smell, either use an acid based product, or try rinsing it with tomato juice, unless you have blonde hair. Apply the tomato juice and leave it on for 10-20 minutes and then rinse it out and
shampoo as usual. If you have blonde
hair, the coloring in the tomato juice might stain it, so you will have to buy tomatoes from the store and make them into juice in a blender. Be sure to peel the tomatoes first, since the skins have natural dyes in them. Good luck!
My daughter and I are about to color and highlight our hair. We had professionals do it before. My hair was last done before Christmas and I had primarily a head of gray hair. I colored it blonde with highlights and the roots really don't show beause it blends in so well with the gray. We each bought hair color we want to be the main color. Mine is a very light blonde and I was wondering if instead of recoloring all of my hair would it be feasable to simply just do highlights with my color. We're using caps to pull hair through. My daughter suggested my coloring my hair completely and then using her darker blonde for the "highlighting". If I do, how should I go about it? Color, rinse and highlight immediately ?
Well, you could do either. You could use your color as just a
highlight instead of
coloring all the hair. Or you could color your whole head with your color and then use your daughter's color for highlights. Yes, do the color first and then
dry your hair before you start with the highlights. Sounds like it will look great!
My sister has naturally light brown hair, that she has dyed using a Feria reddish dye for about 3 months now (dyeing it about once a month). She would like to grow her hair out -- it is quite short right now. When her hair is long she doesn't want it to be this reddish, orangish, purplish color that is has become. She would ideally like it back to its natural color. How would you recommend getting it back to its original color? She has tried dyeing it brown at home, but the color does not take. Can a professional get the color out, or make it so that it looks more natural?
She may need to give her
hair some time before she tries to
color it again. The brown won't take over the red right now, but if she waits for a few weeks, and uses a stripping
shampoo to try to get rid of the color, the brown will have a better chance of staying. If that doesn't work, she might need to bleach all the color out of her hair and start over. A
professional would be a great person to talk to, because she could give your more specific advice when she sees your sister's hair. Good luck!
Hey, I just dyed my hair black and red and I really don't like it AT all and my mom was wondering if I can dye it medium to dark brown or dye it a dark red and get highlights but will it turn green or will it cover up the black and red??
Black is a hard, if not impossible color to cover up, but the good news is that is usually fades quickly. I would recommend leaving the black in for a couple of weeks and letting the color fade to a dark brown. My friend had this same experience. She just had to
wash her hair lots of times and wait for the black to tone down. Now it is a beautiful dark brown. The only other way to cover the black is to bleach your hair and then
redye it, but this would be incredibly damaging to your
hair (a dye, a bleach, and another dye that close together). I know it's not what you want to hear, but I think the best thing is to wait two weeks. And then if you still don't like it, try the bleach. Two weeks is the minimum you should wait anyways before you color you hair again, and three months is preferred. Good luck!
Hey. Last night I dyed my hair black and red and I can't even go out side because I hate it so much and I was wondering if I try to dye it medium brown will it turn out ok?
I don't think the brown will show up over the black, without bleaching your
hair first and I wouldn't recommened doing that because it will be very damaging. I would suggest trying to fade the black out by
washing it frequently over the next few days. Black is the
color that fades the most easily. After a couple of weeks the black may be light enought that you can dye over it, or maybe it will be light enough that you like it. Good luck!
My friend bleached my hair about a month ago and its driving me crazy the way it looks. Before it was dark brown but now the top is kind of bleach blonde with some orange/yellow in it and as you get to the bottom it's still a little brown. We ran out of bleach when we did it so I didn't cover all my hair but basically it's a million different shades of like everything. I went to a salon about 2 weeks ago and she said dye wouldn't take right now but I just want to know how much longer I should wait to dye it? And if I try a darker color will that work? I mean anyway I can get it to one color I'll be happy and hopefully soon and if not how long should I wait? Tips? Thanks!
The best amount of time to wait is three months. Since it has already been one month, I would suggest waiting at least one more month, especially since your stylist said that
color wouldn't take right now. If you try to color over it too soon, you could end up with green or more orange hair. The hard part about putting one color over all your
hair is that it will take differently to the many colors you have now, so it won't all look the same. So you can either rebleach all your hair to get it to one color and then color over it, or just take your chances and color it one darker color and see how it takes. Either way, I would wait for about a month. Good luck!
I have bleached highlights in my hair done about a month ago and I want a perm. Is it ok to do that now?
It is best to wait as long as possible between
highlighting and
perming your
hair, since both are very damaging because of the strong chemicals they use. If it has been one month, I would recommend waiting for one more month before getting the perm. That way, your hair can have more time to heal from the highlights.
I have just found out I'm pregnant and I want to dye my hair to my natural hair colour so I don't have to worry about it. My hair is bleached and very dry and I want to go light brown. I have bought a couple of colours that say you can use them after bleach but all the strand tests go orange or grey. I can't afford a hairdresser. What make and colour would you reccomend I can put on it?
There are a lot of different opinions on
coloring your hair when you are pregnant, and some people suggest that you avoid it, for both the baby's health and because the color may turn out funny because of your hormones. That may be why the color tests are turning out funny colors. Also, it is difficult to color over bleached hair, so that could be part of the problem. It is important to note that doctors suggest that you should not color your hair during your first trimester. If you do want to color you hair, I would suggest either Revlon or Clairol. They both have great products that aren't too bad for your
hair.
I am thinking of getting a perm because my hair is long and really flat. I want to have loose big volumous curls. Do you have any sugg. on what kind of perm to get??? Thankz
I think
perms look amazing on long hair! For
hair longer than six inches, a spiral perm is usually needed to get all the hair curled. And, the bigger the size of curlers used for the perm, the looser the curls. So I would recommend a spiral perm with large rollers for a great look with big, loose curls!
I just rinsed my hair brown, but I want it lighter. Is it ok to mix two different types of rinses, expecially when one requires heat and the other doesen't?
Rinses can't lighten
hair, they can only darken it by depositing more color into your hair. They have no peroxide or ammonia, so they can't lift color. If you want to lighten your hair, you will have to use
hair dyes, which are much more damaging to your hair. That being said, it probably wouldn't hurt to mix hair color rinses, since they generally only last for three to four
shampoos anyways. But if you want it lighter, all you have to do is wash it out over a couple of days, and then start again.
Will my hair fall out if I dye it five days after I permed it?
Some people do have trouble with hair falling out if they use too many chemicals on it in too short a period of time. I can't predict whether or not this will happen to your
hair, but I would recommend waiting for a few weeks before you
color your hair, just to be safe. Plus, your hair will be more healthy this way.
I JUST PERMED MY HAIR FIVE DAYS AGO AND I'M WONDERING IF IT'S OK TO DYE IT NOW.
It is always best to wait as long as possiblew between
perming and
coloring, because the chemicals used for both are very damaging to your hair. I would recommend waiting for a few weeks, to let your hair recoup after the perm.
What is a good shampoo,(reasonably priced),that gets out product, and that I could find at Wal-mart?
One brand that I have used and loved was
Dove. I was having problems with product in my hair as well, and when I switched to Dove, my hair became healthy and soft. I've used both their moisturizing and volumizing
shampoos and
conditioners and have been pleased with both.
My mother-in-law has found a haircut and color that looks good on her... and remains complimentary throughout the years. Do you have any ideas on how to find the right haircut and color for me?
The best way to find a great
hairstyle is to know your
face shape and then determine what
haircuts looks good with that shape. To do this, pull your hair off your face and, standing about one foot away from a mirror, trace your face on the mirror with lipstick. There are generally five face shapes, round, heart, long, square, or oval. Once you know your face shape, you can look online or in magazines to determine what haircuts will look good on you. In terms of
color, find a shade that works well with your skin tone.
I colored my hair at home in November and hated it (it came out reddish), it's now May... I know I'm okay to color and/or highlight whenever, but I'm not sure what to do to get rid of the red. I wouldn't mind going back to a light brown with highlights. Is that doable at home, if so how? Or do I have to go to a salon?
Also, I want my hair straight again. Since having my second child, my hair is straight in the front and curly/wavy in the back. I want to straighten it... and I did it a long time ago myself by just buying a perm and combing my hair whilst perming it but can I do all these things at the same time? How long should I wait between coloring and straightening, if I have to wait at all?
To be on the safe side, I would go to a
salon if you are able.
Coloring over red can be difficult, especially if you are wanting to cover it with lighter colors. If you try to do it at home, you could end up with a color you weren't expecting, since it may not take well to the red.
Both coloring and straightening your hair are very damaging, so doing them to close together could be bad for your hair. If, however, your hair is relatively healthy, it should be fine for you to do them both.
Hello,
My name is Shelley. About 4 weeks ago I got semi-permanent hair color put on my hair but in 2 weeks I am going back to the salon and I wanted to know if I can now put permanent color on my hair in the next 2 weeks which will be 6 in total.
It should be fine for you to put a permanent dye over your semi-permanent. Especially if it will have been six weeks.
Semi-permanent hair dyes are only supposed to last 4-8 weeks anyways. As long as you aren't putting a semi-permanent dye over a permanent dye, it should work really well!
Is it ok to dye my hair even if I have spots around my hair line?
Are the spots natural, or are they left over from another hair
coloring job? If they are just natural color spots, it should be fine to color over them, but just to be sure, I would ask a
professional stylist. The last thing you want is to have orange spots around your face!
I'm black and I recently allowed my hair stylist to highlight my hair. She told me they were going to be light brown or auburn, but instead, she bleached it and they turned out blonde... very blonde. The rest of my hair is sandy brown so now I look like a bumble bee. Three weeks later she put a brown rinse in my hair and it turned the highlights reddish brown. Now.. I just got a perm and the highlights look red. Prom is in two weeks and I need my hair to be one color. My natural color. What am I going to do? Please help me.
It sounds like you have done a lot to your hair in the past few weeks. I don't know that you should do anything else to it, it may already be too damaged. The best thing you can do is ask a
professional stylist if there is a
color they can add to your hair that will cover the red highlights without changing them to another color or completely ruining your
hair. Good luck!
How long should I wait to wash my hair after having it highlighted?
Can you chemically remove bleached blonde hair??
You can't remove bleached blonde hair, because bleach lightens the natural pigments of your hair. You will need to
color over the bleach in order to cover it up, but this can be tricky. When you darken over bleached hair, as I assume you want to do, these pigments need to be put back in. Normal colors are formulated with the idea that they'll be put over hair that contains some pigment. If it is not so, the resulting color is often not what is desired. Most colorists will use several tints in succession, to replace the pigments that have been bleached out. The process is called "filling" the hair. (Fillers are nothing more than normal tints). Don't try to do this at home; get professional help from a
stylist!
I just dyed my hair tiwce and I hate it. I can't even leave the house. What should I do? Is it ok to dye it again?
If you've already dyed your hair twice, I would be cautious about
coloring it again so soon. The two main things you need to be worried about are the third color coming out orange or green from too much coloring, or your hair being too damaged. If you are willing to take the chance on these, then go ahead and try coloring it again. But be careful!
I dyed my hair about 3 weeks ago and I really need a perm. How long should I wait?
Both
perming and
coloring are very damaging to your hair, but if you have
healthy hair, it should be safe for you do perm your hair now. If your hair is dry and damaged from the coloring, you may want to wait a couple of months before you perm it.
I dyed my hair about 3 weeks ago and I really need to dye my hair. How long should I wait?
It is best to wait about three months, but in an emergency, it doesn't have to be that long. Make sure you go to a professional, because
coloring over recently colored hair at home can turn into a disaster! As long as your hair isn't too damaged, you can go ahead and color it again right away.
I am a natural blonde and have been my whole life. I just dyed my hair brown but it turned out a lot lighter than I wanted. How long do I have to wait until I can dye it again to get it darker?
I had a friend that just had this experience. You should be able to put darker colors in it right now, but be careful. My friend's hair turned out black! It
washed out to be dark brown after a few days, so you should be ok. She was using
semi-permanent dye, though, so if you are using permanent, don't do anything too drastic.
Hi. I went to a salon to get side bangs, but they gave me wide side bangs and they are shorter than the rest of my hair and it turned out badly. Do you have any suggesions to fix my bangs so they aren't so wide looking? Do you have any way I can put my hair with out showing the wideness in the bangs? Thanks!
Well, the good thing about hair is that it grows! Here's a trick you can try for bangs that are too short;
blow dry them straight down and then sweep them to the side. Then secure them back with a hair clip or bobby pin. I've seen a lot of cute
hairstyles with bangs clipped to the sides. Try that until they grow out long enough to sweep to the side on their own. Good luck!
I just dyed my hair and it looks horrible. I used the Loreal permanent hair dye. I dyed it extra bleach blonde from a sandy blonde color hair. I don't know how long I should wait to dye it over to my old color. It says to wait 3 weeks but I can't wait that long! Please help me.
You can either wait for the three weeks, or, according to Loreal's website, you can touch up the
color with a darker shade of the same brand. Be careful doing this though, you don't want your
hair to turn green.
Loreal has a personalized phone line you can call to get specific hair advice if you are still unsure. Call 1-800-631-7358 to get tips from a hair color expert.
Hi. I dyed my hair last week and I want to know how long should I wait until I can get a perm. Thanks!
Well, both
perming and
coloring are very damaging to your hair, but if you have healthy hair, and it's not too damaged from the coloring, you can probably go ahead and get the perm now. Just be sure that once you do, you are using
shampoo and
conditioner designed for color treated hair.
I got my hair highlighted, then the next week I got it highlighted more because it wasn't light enough. The next day I dyed it blonde because my hair was too white from the highlighting. Now it's light orange, and I hate it. How long do I have to wait to dye my hair back to brown? Will it turn orange?
It's hard to say just what your hair will do, but there is a good chance that putting a brown over the
highlights and the blonde color will not turn out as you are hoping. It might go orange, or if there is any red in the brown you use, it might go pink. I would recommend waiting for at least a couple of weeks and
shampooing your hair frequently to try to tone down the orange color. Even then,
coloring brown over it will be risky. I would recommend going to a
salon!
What would you do if you had honey blonde in your hair and you put a 14k gold in your hair and it turned black?
Well, if you try to
bleach it out, you could up with orange hair instead of black. Try
washing your hair a lot to fade the color as much as possible, and use lots of
conditioner to keep it healthy. Then, I would suggest putting a lighter brown color over the black to try to lighten it up a bit. That hopefully won't turn your hair yellow or orange. I would wait a while before trying to put blonde back in it. Also, if you have the resources, visit a
salon and get professional advice and help to fix the problem. Good luck!
I dyed the bottom half of my hair pink about 6 weeks ago and now it's fading. I want to dye all of it black. But I'm not sure if it's too soon. My question is about how long should I wait after I dye my hair to dye it again? I dye it very often so I just want to be sure. Thank You.
Six weeks should be long enough to dye over your hair again. Especially if the pink is fading and you are going black. Keep in mind that
coloring your hair dries and damages your hair the more you do it, so be sure to use
shampoos and
conditioners that are meant for color treated hair. It is probably best to wait three months or so, but it isn't always necessary and in your case you should be fine.
Is Pantene Pro-V Scalp Therapy still available?
As far as I can tell, that product is off the market. It is no longer listed on
Pantene's website and I can't find any stores that sell it. Sorry!
How soon after coloring can I perm my hair?
If it's not an emergency, I would wait a month or two. Both
coloring and
perming are very damaging to your hair, so to do both of them too close together would really dry out your hair. Be sure that you are using
shampoo and
conditioner for colored treated hair, since that will help your hair recover and retain the color.
For the last five years I have sufferd with alopecia areata, since then I have been very careful with my hair and have never put anything on it. At the moment my hair is fine, and I would really like to have some highlights. Do you think highlights will affect my condition?
All of the research I could find on this issue suggests that
highlighting your hair will not affect your alopecia areata. So go ahead and do it! But it is good that you are working so hard to take care of your hair; keep it up!
Hey I just got blonde highlights put in my hair on Friday. I don't like how they look in my hair. Anyways I want to dye my hair so it's all dark brown again. I know these highlights will last 4-6 weeks, but I don't want to wait that long for them to go away. My question is do I have to wait a certain amount of time before I can go ahead and dye my hair? If so.. how long would I have to wait? I know back when I was in high school I had my hair professionally colored, and I tried to dye it back to dark brown a few days afterwards and I got no results. After about a month or two I tried again, and it worked fine. So I don't want to waste money buying hair dye if it's too soon for me to dye my hair after getting these highlights done.
If you
dye your hair over your
highlights, they will most likely appear lighter and/or brighter than the rest of your hair, but it is hard to predict. You may want to visit a
salon and have them give you a consultation to get a better idea. If you don't want to take the risk that the highlights will look strange when colored over, than wait the 4-6 weeks.
Should I wash my hair with shampoo immediately after coloring and before the conditioner?
If you colored your own hair at home, then follow the instructions on the box. Usually, it will tell you to
shampoo your hair immediately after
coloring until the water runs clear. After that, you should
condition. If you had your hair
professionally colored, it is best to wait 24 hours before you shampoo your hair.
I have hairy legs. It doesn't bother me actually. But they're curl and it makes my legs don't look good. How to straighten them away?
Well, I must admit that I don't know how to straighten leg hair and couldn't find any information on the subject. However, there are chemical hair straighteners for head hair and they would probably work on legs as well. You can buy hair straightening chemicals at the store. Just follow the directions on the box. If it is safe for your head, it should be safe for your legs. You will probably have to use some sort of
moisturizing body lotion afterwords. Good luck!
I am letting my bangs grow out and when I straighten them they always somehow end up in my face and flat. How can I prevent that?
When growing out bangs, you can either pull them back or sweep them to the side. My personal favorite is the sweeping to the side look. While your
hair is wet, comb your hair into that position, with your bangs swept to the side. When your hair dries, it will be more likely to stay in place! Also, remember to occasionally
trim your bangs (every four to six weeks) to make sure they stay healthy as they are growing out.
I always straighten my hair. Is there anything else I can do besides straighten it, put it in a pony tail, or put it up in a clippy?
I love curls, myself. Have you tried hot rollers? They can give fantastic loose curls to your hair! Other great
hairstyles depend on the length of your hair. Since you can put it in a pony tail, I am assuming you have long hair. Me too! Sometimes I use a
defuser on my hair, or often a
curling iron. Here's a fun tip from
Matrix: Begin in back and twist 2-inch sections tightly from scalp to ends, then wrap this hair around a medium size curl iron, hold in place until you can feel the heat. Twist and iron entire head. It sounds like it would take a long time, but the result is a head full of beautiful curls!
What do you do for split ends?
Here are some quick tips to keep split ends from getting worse: don't ever
brush wet hair, try to use a wide comb even on dry hair, don't use elastic bands in your hair since these cause split ends. Also be sure you
trim your hair often to get rid of any split ends. There are split end treatments that you can buy at the store, such as leave-in-
conditioners that should help. Be careful about
drying and
curling your hair, because extra heat cause split ends. Too much sun exposure also causes split ends. Really, the best thing to do it trim split ends and then try to keep your
hair healthy and moisturized.
My mom is in the nursing home and refuses to go to the beauty shop. Is there a shampoo I can use on her hair without water?
There is a brand called No Rinse Shampoo that is popular in hospitals and is relatively cheap, but I have never tried it. There are tons of other brands of
shampoo that clean hair without water. Another brand to try is Rinse No More shampoo. It is more expensive than No Rinse Shampoo. Again, I haven't ever tried waterless shampoo, so it is difficult to know what to recommend.
I dyed my hair on Friday, and it is not the right shade. How soon can I try to go lighter?
Well,
hair coloring does damage your hair, so it is best to dye it as little as possible, for instance, when your roots start growing out. But if you don't like the color, and need to go lighter, it is ok to re-color your hair now. It also depends on what kind of hair dye you used, permanent or semi-permanent. It might be better to just touch up the color with
highlights rather than re-dye all your hair.
I just got a spiral perm over the weekend and I love it. I had died my hair lighter months ago and the roots are horrible. I want to dye my hair back to its natural brown color. How long should I wait to dye my hair after getting the perm? Can you please tell me of any other advise or tips I should know? Thanks so much!!!
You'll want to be careful
coloring your hair too soon after
getting a perm. At least you permed your hair before you colored it! That is best. Both perming and coloring are very damaging to your hair and can cause dry or damaged hair. Check your hair to see if it is too dry. To do this, put a few strands of hair in some water. If they float, your hair is healthy and should be fine to color again. If they sink, your hair is dry and you might consider waiting to dye your hair brown.
How do I get my dull brown hair to look more like all of my friends sparkly happy blond curly hair? Can I do this with out damaging my tender roots?
I have found that really good
conditioners, not the cheap ones, will help protect your roots. As far as the
hair color, visit a
hair salon and get
highlights or even color your hair. But be careful, as this will damage your hair.
Skin Care
Hi. Due to my dry hairs I have to use oil. But the problem is that this oil comes and deposits on my neck and as I perspire a lot this makes my neck become darker. As far as I am at home it's okay. I can wash my neck as much time as I want. But when I am at school what shall I do? My neck is so oily.
One quick and easy way to deal with it would be to use the facial cleansing clothes that get rid of oil and dirt on your face in the middle of the day. Biore has a great product, Daily Deep Pore Cleansing Cloths, that would be an easy way to keep your neck oil-free while you're at school. The cloths are premoistened, so all you would need to do it step into the bathroom and do a quick swipe of your neck with a cleansing cloth. I hope this helps!
Help! My skin is all stingy and red this morning! I just applied the last Acne-Free bottle and it made my skin do that I think, because I didn't apply the lemon juice since that happened. Now it's late in the afternoon and my skin isn't stingy, but it's still red, just not as red as this morning. But it's only red on my cheeks and chin, and I apply the Acne-Free treatment all over my face. What should I do, I feel like nothing works for my skin!
Oh, I forgot that that can happen. That didn't happen to me when I started using it, but I know it did to one of my friends. It lasted for a few days, but it cleared her skin up in less than one week. I don't have very sensitive skin, so it didn't bother me at all. What my friend did to help with the stingy and red irritation was only apply the repair lotion directly over her breakouts, instead of her whole face. Now, I think she is used to it and it doesn't bother her skin to use it at all. Sorry that it stings, but don't be discouraged, that is actually a good sign. The Acne-Free products, like I said, cleared my friend's skin up in a few days, I think about 4 and it stung for the first two or three days. I didn't notice any stingy or irritation, but it did take a few extra days for it to clear up my skin. So maybe it's a good thing that you are having those side effects, it means your skin will be cleared up faster because it is more effective on your skin type! Hang in there and let me know if it doesn't go away after a few uses!
I was also wondering when I should apply my lemon juice because everytime I use it I feel a if it takes some of the Acne-Free stuff off my face. What should I do?
Yes, I can see how that would be a problem. Depending on how well the Acne-Free products work on your face, I would suggest no longer using the lemon juice. Again, my skin has responded quite well to the Acne-Free skin care line, and it is actually working to reduce acne scars as I use it daily. Now, I don't have freckles, so I don't know if it will help to reduce those. I am assuming that you usually leave the lemon juice on your face all day, or overnight, depending on how you are doing it and don't wash it off. But you also now don't wash off the Acne-Free repair lotion. If you would like to continue using both, I would suggest trying applying the lemon juice after you have used the cleanser and toner, but before you apply the repair lotion. After giving the lemon juice a couple of minutes to dry, you can then put on the 3rd Acne-Free step over top of the lemon juice. I would try that solution carefully, because you never know if the combination of the lemon juice and the Acne-Free product will irritate your face or cause it to break-out. I don't think it will, but keep an eye on it. But if it comes down to choosing one or the other, I would make sure you are applying the Acne-Free products.
My freckles are genetic, and the've slowly faded away. Same with my acne scas they've slowly faded away. So should I just keep using the lemon juice?
If the lemon juice is helping them slowly fade, then yes, I would recommend you keep using it. Keep in mind, though, that a specific beauty product designed to get rid of scars will probably work faster than a home remedy. Of course, it will also cost more too, so each has its pros and cons. If the lemon juice is working, I would stick with that for now. Scars do take a while to fade with some types of skin. As long as you aren't seeing any negative side effects from the lemon juice (like an allergic reaction that is making your skin break out), you should be fine!
My freckles haven't faded away yet and it's been over a month now. Also my acne scars haven't faded away either. Please help!!
Hmmm....well, some
skin does scar more easily than others and will take longer to heal. Have you been using home remedies for your
acne scars? Sometimes those won't work on certain types of skin, or will take a long time to make a difference. You might want to try something more powerful. Remember that brand I told you about, Acne-Free? They have a Acne Scar medication that worked really well for me in getting rid of acne scars. I would recommend trying something more powerful than what you have been using. And your
freckles are still around? Do you have freckles year-round, or only in the summer? There is a possibility that your freckles won't fade, except with age. It's hard to tell, because I don't know too much about your skin. If nothing else works, there's always chemical peels and microdermabrasion to help with getting rid of acne scars and such, but those are expensive and I think you are too young for something like that. I know it's not easy, but I would keep up what you have been doing for another month or so. Have you noticed any progress? As long as your skin isn't getting worse, I would keep trying what you are doing. Also, check out that Acne-Free product I mentioned. I got a free trial of it when I purchased my Acne-Free 3 step skin care routine, so maybe you can find something like that. I know I am jumping back and forth, but are your freckles caused by the sun, or are they genetic? Because sun freckles are easier to get rid of than genetic freckles. One last piece of advice for now. I would recommend seeing a
dermatologist. She could give you much more specific advice about your skin than I can and can also prescribe powerful skin care products that only doctors can give. Depending on where you live, something like this may be covered by your insurance, so check that out. Good luck!
Hey it's Kayla, I have dark freckles, so does that mean it will take longer for them to fade away with the lemon juice? If so, how longer?
Yes, it would take longer to
fade darker freckles. Lemon juice is a natural skin lightener and if your freckles are dark, there is more to lighten! I would give it probably a month or so. Remember that using lemon juice on your face increases your skin's sensitivity so the sun, so always wear sunscreen!
Hey it's Kayla, how long does it take for the lemon juice to work for freckles and for acne scars?
Well, on their own, it takes
acne scars about a year to go away, but with the
lemon juice, it takes a few weeks. It is the same for getting rid of
freckles. I have also heard that neosporin (the cream medication for burns and cuts) works in just a couple of days to get rid of acne scars, or at least begin to lessen them.
Hey it's Kayla, how do you get rid of dark circles under your eyes? P.S. if it's a home remedie or cream, how long does it take?
One great natural remedy for dark circles under your eyes is the fig, but it must be used in its natural form, almost like cucumber slices on your eyes. This would take a few days. Besides that, here are the best eye creams out there for treating dark circles:
Mary Kay firming eye cream or timewise age fighting cream and Jane Iredale Enlighten cream. I've never used these creams, but from what I hear, they take a few days to a couple of weeks to work. The dark cicles could be caused by a lack of sleep or a vitamin deficiency, so get a full night's rest every night and take a multi-vitamin to make sure you are getting enough potassium and iron. Keep in mind, though, that if this is a hereditary problem, you may not be able to cure the dark circles. Good luck Kayla!
Hi, I'm 24 years old and have a Scar a little over an inch long on my lower jaw/chin, could you tell the best way to get rid of it or reduce the appearance permanently, Thank you
There are a few ways to get rid of scars including laser surgery, steroid injections, or scar creams. If you are interested in the first two, you will have to consult your doctor to see if they are a viable option for you. If you are looking for something you can do at home that is less expensive, here are some ideas.
Cocoa and
shea butter are great for your skin and are used to help lessen the appearance of scars. You can also try medicated cream such as mederma to help lessen the appearance of your scar. You can also wash your scar with camomile tea to fade the color. A combination of vitamin E, lemon juice, and vaselene will also help get rid of the scar, but you are supposed to wrap the area in plastic wrap after applying the mixture, so I don't know how that will work with your chin!
Hi. I heard you can use yoghurt on your face...what impact does this have? also which type of yoghurt do you have to use...Thanks
The primary purpose of yogurt in skin care is to
lighten the skin. Yogurt masks can help to maintain a fair complexion or even help de-redden your face. Whole or non-fat yogurt works for this. Just use plain, no flavor yogurt and leave it on as a mask for 10-15 minutes. Yogurt also helps to
exfoliate dead skin and rejuvinate and soothe your face.
Hi, I would like to check with you if u have recommendation as to removing black head on my cheeks and nose as well as reducing shine on my oily face? And lastly, a question for hair, any home remedy to prevent hairloss??
thank you.
amanda
There are tons of great and easy ways to eliminate blackheads and get rid of the oily
skin that causes blackheads to form, and many can be done at home! Here are some ideas: first, undiluted lemon juice, applied two or three times a day to the affected area will help get rid of blackheads. Second, you can apply warm honey to the area and wash it off after 15 minutes. Or you can try mixing 1 tsp of groundnut oil with 1 tsp of fresh lime juice and applying it to the area. These are just a few easy suggestions. I am actually going to write an article about this today, so if you have more questions, check it out! Now for some home remedies to prevent
hair loss. One of the best treatments is to vigorously rub the scalp after washing the hair in cold water. Keep rubbing until the scalp starts to tingle with heat. This helps stimulate the sebaceous glands and energize the circulation of blood in the affected area, making the hair grow healthy. Another home remedy is to mix lettuce and spinach juice and apply it to the hair. One last idea, I know it sounds crazy, but you can rub the affected area with onion every morning and evening until it is red. Follow this up with honey rub down. Good luck!
Is Almay a good product for my face to get rid of pores and make my skin smoothe? If not, what products would you recomend to get rid of pores and smoothe my skin (price doesn't matter, as long as it's in stores and it works!).
Well, first of all, you can't get rid of your pores. Everyone has them and you need them to have healthy
skin. Some people's pores are just smaller and less noticeable than others. If you want to
minimize your pores and smooth your skin, here are a couple of great suggestions. First, mix 1 tbsp each of honey, olive oil, and sugar. Rub this gently onto your face and wash off with water. Follow this up with an egg white mask. Mix two egg whites with a few drops of lemon and apply to your face. As the egg dries, it will pull dirt out of your pores. Leave the mask on for about five minutes and then rinse with water. Another great idea is to mix almond meal with water to make a paste. Put it on your face and leave it for about 20 minutes. After you have rinsed it off, apply witch hazel. One last suggestion: A paste of table salt and buttermilk will also minimize pores. Massage it onto your face and rinse with warm water. Besides these home remedies for smaller pores, you can use products from the store.
Almay does have a new pore minimizer out that combines rice protein and grape seeds to nourish and protect your skin while minimizing the appearance of your pores.
Hey it's Kayla, you said lemon juice works for freckles, so would I use it day and night, or just day?
Just use it during the day and you should be fine!
I always have rosy red cheeks and I'm really self concious of it. Are there any products which can help cover up the redness which are a reasonable price??
A greenish
concealer is the best way to cover up rosy cheeks.
MAC or
Estee Lauder both have great products. Yellow based concealers also work really well. MAC has a few different concealers you can choose from and most are reasonably priced. Good luck!
Hey, my name's Kayla, and I'm 14. I was wondering how do I know what skin type I have?
Well, there are five main
skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination, or sensative. Normal skin is smooth and has a clear complexion and not visible pores. It's not really dry or oily. Dry skin is prone to flaking and often appears dull. To test to see if you have dry skin, wash your face and then let it sit for 30 minutes. Don't put anything on it. If your skin feels tight and rough, you probably have dry skin. Oily skin tends to be shiny and is very susceptible to
breakouts. To test for oily skin, wait until the middle of the day and take a piece of toilet paper and hold it against your face for about 30 seconds. If the paper comes away with visible dirt,
makeup, or oil, you have oily skin. Combination skin is the most common skin type among women. It is characterized by oily skin in the t-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) and dry skin on the rest of your face. The last skin type is sensative skin. This skin type tends to be irritated easily and is often red from the environment or makeup products. Sensative skin can be associated with any of the other four skin types. So you can have sensative combination skin, for example. I hope this helps. Just see which description most closely matches your skin and you'll know what your skin type is!
Hi I am a really white girl and I freckle easily... I have tried tanning lotions but they always leave streaks or turn me orange. I can't tan without freckling. Any Suggestions?
Well, if you really want to
tan, I would say go ahead (but keep in mind that it is really really bad for your
skin!) and I can give you some great and easy home remedies for
fading freckles. You can wash your face with sour milk, or put lemon juice on with your fingers. You can also try a mask of strawberries, cucumbers, or even sour cream to fade freckles. Also, be sure you are taking lots of Vitamin C, since this helps your skin be less sensitive to the sun. Of course, you can always try
sunless tanning lotion by Jergens or Neutrogena. Those are the best two brands and aren't as likely to make your skin streaky. Plus, they often come with
moisturizers to help your skin be healthy!
Hey! I'm 14 and I have really oily skin..like really and I'm going to a wedding in less than five days so I was wondering if u could give me a homemade recipe with simple supermarket stuff that I can make at home or something that I can but like wipes or something...and that works! Even if just a bit cuz at least it'll give me clearer skin cuz the wedding is really near!!!!THANK YOU
Ok, here are some great home remedies for oily
skin (I know because my skin is oily too!). First, you can make a puree of fresh tomatoes and apply it to your skin for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off. Second, make a pulp of raw papaya and apply it to your skin, again for 20 minutes and then rinse. You can also try mixing a little lemon juice with milk and oatmeal and leaving that on your face for 20 minutes. Like you mentioned, there are also great facial cloths that are designed for oily skin. One of my favorites is Biore cleansing cloths. Good luck and have fun at the wedding!
Hello, I have a great problem with my neck I wash them many times a day but no results. It goes on being darker and darker.
It sounds like you are trying to
lighten your skin, or keep it light. Is that right? If so, here are some great ideas. You can mix lemon juice and honey in equal parts and apply it to your skin and leave it on for 15 minutes. You can also combine equal parts of lemon juice and cucumber juice and apply that to your body. Or you can rub tomato pulp on your skin to lighten it and improve your complexion. Good luck!
Hi, I'm a fourteen year old girl, and I used to have a lot of acne on my back. Now it's cleared up, but left a ton of scars! I always wear surfer shirts when I swim because I don't want people to see the scars, but the shirt gives me a bad farmer's tan! I know there's laser resurfacing, but it costs a lot! Any affordable suggestions would be help! Thanks so much.
One of the best treatments for
acne scars is lavendar. Dot lavendar oil on the acne scars, and they should heal faster. You can also aloe vera juice or gel to reduce the appearance of scars, but this works best if applied immediately after the scars form. One other option is rosehip seed oil. Massage this into the affected area twice a day. Good luck and I hope these work!
Can u pls suggest an effective facial whitening cream? I want to make my skin 4 or 5 shades lighter.
Natural Care is a brand that uses minerals from the Dead Sea to make great and healthy
skincare products. I would recommend trying their Whitening Cream. Although, if you want to go that much lighter, you might have to look into laser surgery.
What should I use with my face which has fickle?
The best way to
fight freckles is to protect your
skin from the sun by using
sunscreen and wearing a hat, because sun exposure is what causes freckles to form. To help diminish the appearance of freckles, there are a few things you can try. First, you can
wash your face with sour milk. This will gently peel your skin and help reduce freckles. Or, you can use lemon juice. Just rub it on with your fingers and leave it for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Fruit and vegetable masks are another natural way to lighten your freckles. Or even a sour cream mask works well. And, of course, you can use
concealer,
foundation, and powder to help cover your freckles until they disappear. These are just a few ideas of how to lighten your freckles! Although, I must add that most people find freckles adorable and wouldn't want you to get rid of them!
My problem is about how to treat my face which has some freckles. I don't know what should I apply on my face?

I never apply sunscreen, because it makes me really dark. I have heard that applying water mixed with salt helps retain the fairness. I am confused. Please help me get back my fair skin using a home based skin pack.
There are a variety of natural skin bleachers that are safe to use at home to lighten your
skin back to your fair complexion. One good homemade recipe to is to combine equal parts of honey and lemon juice to your face and whole body and leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash it off. There are lots of other options as well, which I will include in my post today. Good luck!
I have big pores in my face. I've tried some lemon extract, but it's itchy. What natural treatment should I do to reduce them?
Topical
Vitamin A treatments are a great way to minimize pores. Besides that, here are some homemade recipes that reduce the size of pores. First, mix 1 tbsp each of honey, sugar, and olive oil and rub onto your face. Wash that off and follow with an egg white mask. Mix two egg whites with a few drops of lemon (hopefully this won't itch!) to make a mask. Leave it on for about 5 minutes. There are other recipes that minize pores, and I will write an article about them today and post it, so if you want more ideas, check it out!
My skin is dark (Beyonce/Tyra) complexion and I have puffiness under my eyes. I have used everything from organic products to the very expensive Hylexin. Nothing works and I'm young so I don't want to look older just because of chronic eye puffiness.
Puffy eyes, most commonly, can be hereditary, a result of fluid retention, or caused by allergies. Here are a couple of things to try since everything you have tried so far hasn't worked. Try elevating the head of your bed at night. If the puffiness is caused by fluid retention, this should help. Also, while you are sitting up, you can apply a cold compress for a few minutes to help reduce puffiness. This can either be a cool cloth, or even cucumber slices. And, while there have been no tests to support this, I've heard that hemorrhoid cream can reduce swelling under the eyes.
I'm black and I have dark circles under my bottom lips. How can I get rid of them?
Facial discoloration may be caused by too much unprotected exposure to the sun. Visit your doctor and see if he will recommened a cream to help heal the dark circles. One great product is Avage by Allergan. See if this product is right for you, and don't ever go out in the sun with your
skin unprotected!
I have too many pimples/rashes on my face. What should I use?
Pimples can come for a variety of reasons. First, make sure you are doing all the basics, like
cleansing,
toning, and
moisturizing your face daily. Beyond that, something that I found that I love is natural
skin care products. I use
Zia Natural Skincare and find that their acne mask works especially well. It could just be that your skin is irritated by all the chemicals in the skin care products or
makeup you are using. Another option is medication from a
dermatologist such as Proactiv. If you can't get your skin to clear up at all, visit a dermatologist and get her help with finding a treatment that is right for you.
What can I do for smelly armpits when deodorants & antipresperants don't work?
Here are some tips for getting rid of body odor. First, shower at least once a day. Second, when you get out of the shower, pat some talcum powder on your skin, especially under your arms. Third, eat more
fruits and vegetables. For some people, eating lots of meat increases body odor. Fourth, wear cotton, wool, or silk, as these fabrics breathe naturally and will help keep your body dry. Sixth, try to
lower the stress in your life. Try
yoga, or breathing exercises to calm you down. These tips should help you control body odor. Good luck!
Hi, My name is Regina I'm getting ready to turn 31 yrs old. My friends use daily moisturizers, and they put the moisturizers on their eyelids. I wasn't sure if you should or NOT. I have been looking on the computer, but I guess I'm not looking in the right area, so can you please help me? Can you also tell me some moisturizers that would be good to use on my skin? My skin is normal/oily in the T-zone. I hope you can help me out with these questions I will be very grateful. Thanks so much, Regina.
Moisturizers on your eyelids can make your eye makeup smear and not stay in place, so if you wear
eye shadow, it may not be a good idea. Using moisturizer or a anti-aging cream at night on your eyes would work well. I have
skin that is similar to yours and one moisturizer I love is Zia Natural Ultimate Oil Free Moisturizer. I also use and enjoy Dove Daily Moisturizer.
From calf to ankle, my legs look dry and scaly. Is there anything on the market I can use to get rid of this quickly? Summer is almost here. Won't look so good at the beach.
I would recommend moisturizing your legs nightly with
body lotion. Body butter is especially moisturizing and should help you get rid of dry legs!
I have a mass of small white bumps on my chin which I have been trying to get rid of for years. Any recommendations?
It is difficult to say for sure, but it sounds like you have milia. Milia are tiny white bumps or pimples. They occur when dead, normally sloughed-off skin becomes trapped in small pockets at the surface of the skin or mouth. A
dermatologist could more accurately tell you what the problem is, and if it is milia, could safely remove it without leaving any scars. So check with your doctor.
Is there any way to remove unsightly hair permenantly and inexpensively from around my upper lip?
Your two main options would be
waxing (which wouldn't be permanent) or
laser hair removal (which probably wouldn't be inexpensive). Or you could buy an at home electrolysis kit. Now I've never tried it, but it says that it removes hair gently and permanently. An electrolysis kit is about $40, so that might be your best option.
I have dark circles under my eyes and dark blotches between my nose and upper lip. Is there anything that you know of on the market that will remove this discoloration?
Facial discoloration may be caused by sun exposure. There is a perscription drug on the market, Avage, by Allergan, that is designed to reduce
fine lines and facial discoloration that results from excessive sun exposure. I would recommend visiting your doctor and seeing if the dark blotches on your face might have been caused by the sun. If they were, ask about Avage.
I am 39 and feel I look older. I have lines around my eyes; how can I improve these without expensive surgery?
It sounds like what you need is age fighting cream. If you want to go natural, one brand that I really enjoy is
Zia Natural Skincare. They have an Ultimate Eye Cream that fights lines and improves firmness around the eyes. Or there are products you can buy at the local drugstore that will make your skin more firm and get rid of
wrinkles.
How can I get rid of my clumpy oily skin?
One of the best ways to care for oily skin is to use oil-based
cleaners and oil-free
moisturizers. With oily skin, you need to wash your fash two to three times a day with hot water and pure soaps to keep your pores from clogging. You want to be careful not to take away too many of the natural oils on your face, or else your oil glands will produce more oil to compensate. Another tip, don't use cleansers or moisturizers that have alcohol in them. Remember, there are benefits to having oily skin! Oily skin ages slower than other
skin types.
How can I make my face look good, because I hate my freckles?
If you are trying to get rid of your freckles, try lemon juice, I've heard it will make them disappear. Also, I'm sure you know that the sun increases freckles, so wear sunscreen! Alpha-hydroxy acids also work to decrease freckles. You can also use
makeup to cover your freckles. Try applying
concealer over the freckles and then
foundation and a loose powder. Good luck! And a quick side note, lots of people (including me!) think freckles are cute and are envious of you who have them!

How do you apply eyeliner on your eyelid?
Here are some eyeliner application tips. Start with your upper eyelid. Close one eye and use a finger in the outer corner of your eye to gently pull your lid tight. Start in the middle of your lid and draw a line towards the outer corner of your eye. Then, start in the middle again and move towards the nose, making the line a little thinner than the first line. You should smudge the line on the upper lid when you are finished with this to blend the line. Use a makeup sponge or cotton swab. On the lower lid, you only want to apply makeup where there are lashes, not along the whole lower eyelid. Start either where your lashes start (close to your nose) and work towards the outside of the eye. You can also just start halfway on the lid, directly under your pupil, and work to the outside. Now, switch eyes and you're done!
Ok, so I'm 15 and about to start High School and I really want to know what my color palet is. All my life I've kinda walked in the shadow of my best friend. It seems like she is always put together; her hair and make up are always perfect and she get all of the guys. I would really like to know what colors work best for my brown hair and blue eyes so that I can be known as Bay isntead of Kenzie's Best Friend! please help so that I feel more confident in high school then I did in Jr High! THANKS!!ܠ
The best way to make blue eyes stand out is to use warm tones, mostly taupe, light brown, dark brown and orange tones. One way to stand out is to apply your
makeup with the light tones at the upper lid and lower lid and the dark tones in the middle or crease of your eye. Use a black
eye liner and black
mascara to help your eyes "pop" out. Blue eyes and brown hair is a great combination. Overall, warm shades look best on you. If you want more details, a good way to get color suggestions is to know what season you are in terms of skin tone. This will help you choose makeup colors. I can't tell you because I don't have enough information, but you can go to http://www.ehow.com/how_3249_choose-colors-flatter.html. It sounds like you are a Summer from what I know, but check for yourself and then you'll have even a better idea of what colors to stick with. Good luck in High School!
Hi! I was just wondering... Do you know what are some good eyeshadow colors for brown eyes?
You're lucky to have brown eyes, because there are tons of
eyeshadow colors that you can wear. The ones that look the best are plums and purples, rust and burnt oranges, or blues and grays. According to makeup artists, brown eyes can handle just about any eyeshadow color, so take your pick. My personal favorite for brown eyes are the plum shades. Keep in mind that it also is important to consider your
hair color when picking an eyeshadow.
Hi. I'm just wondering if you have any info on powder foundation. It's coverage and the like. I am traveling to the UK you see, and only want to take a carry-on and that means NO liquids! thanks for any info you may have!
You have a few options when it comes to powder
foundation, but if you are using it without any liquid foundation underneath, I would recommend using a pressed powder. Pressed powders are easier to apply without a foundation underneath and provide flawless, total coverage for the
skin. Pressed powders work especially well with oily skin. A couple of great powders to try are Neutrogena Skin Clearing oil-free compact foundation or Neutrogena Mineral Sheers powder foundation. Good luck and have a great trip!
Hi! I'd be grateful for some tips. I just love makeup, but the problem is I get tired of using the same styles for weeks. It's hard to find any that don't go overboard, as I'm very pale (not that it bothers me). Shades are sometimes quite hard to find, too. I'm still a teenager, so no red lipstick is appropriate. To go with my fair skin I have green(ish), kind of small eyes and naturally plump enough lips (though some extra wouldn't hurt). What I'd like to do is highlight them both in a fresh, classy way. Thank you!
Fair skin and greenish eyes? That's me too! So I can help with this. Yes, it does get dull to do the same
makeup over and over. And I like that you don't like to go overboard on your makeup! Very wise. Well, the best color to draw out your green eyes with is plum. Use a plum
eyeliner. And don't do black
mascara. With your fair skin and lighter eyes, brownish black mascara will look better on you. For
eye shadow shades, I would recommend pinks, browns, and mauves. Even wine colors would look great. Nothing too dark, with your fair skin. For your lips, I would say the same things. Light pinks and wine colors would also look great for your lips. Use a
lip liner to add extra volume to your lips, just be sure to match the color to your
lipstick. Avoid the temptation to use a darker lip liner. Best of luck!
Hi I am 14 and I am going into high school. But I am not allowed to wear makeup. My parents think I am too young.
There's nothing wrong with being too young to wear
makeup. Makeup often looks funny and overdone on young girls anyways. There are tons of things you can do to make sure you look great without wearing makeup. First of all, never stop
washing your face twice a day. A clear and healthy complexion is always better than covering it with makeup. Make sure your parents let you have
moisturizer though. You have to always apply moisturizer after you wash your face, or your skin will dry out. Another thing you can do is tweeze the stray hairs around your eyebrows to draw more attention to your eyes without makeup. Good luck with high school!
Hey. Everytime I wear foundaton, my skin looks pink, no matter what foundation I wear. Even the yellow-based ones. I am starting to wondure if I am choosing too light a shade? I don't know...but it's annoying cos evertime I wear foundation to cover my pimples, I look pink!! arghh please tell me what to do...and not just say that I need a yellow-based one and that I need to check it on my neck and outside...cos thats what I do!!!
Well, the basic problem is that you have
warm undertones, and it is harder to find great
makeup for warm undertones. I know because I had the same problem for a long time. Most
foundations seem to be made for cool undertones. Rather than try yellow based foundations, you may need to move to neutral bases. I had never even heard of these until recently, but they are an alternative to yellow or pink based foundations. I know, because I had to start using them! Also, I don't think it's very effective to try makeup on your wrist or neck, because when the makeup warms up on your face, it isn't the same color as you expected. Anyways, here's what I would recommend. It's hard to tell you exactly what brand or color to use because I don't know what your skin tone is, but I would tell you to go get a free makeup consultation at a department store. They can help you match a specific shade to your skin. One other tip, it sounds like your are using liquid foundation. Try a cream foundation instead. One brand that I have heard a lot of good things about from people who also have the pink problem is Bare Minerals. Give it a try! Good luck!
Hi. I'm Asian and I have small puffy eyes. How can I disguise these, and bring out my eyes more.
The best way to bring out your eyes is with
mascara. To draw more attention to your eyes, wear mascara that is waterproof, lengthening, and curling. And try dark blue
eyeliner too, that will look really good!
Hi. I'm a 14 year old girl, and I wear a bit of mascara and eyeliner to school everyday. I've got this huge crush on a guy, and I would like to know, what else can I do to my hair and face to make him notice me more. My facial shape is kind of squared, I'm Asian with small eyes and single eyelids, but I don't have pale skin. It's more of a light brown. Thanks!
Here's a fun tip. Apply white
eyeliner to the inner edge of your bottom lid only. This will make your eyes stand out more. When you apply eyeliner to your top eyelid, only apply it starting at your pupil and moving to the corner of your eye. You can also try
eye shadow for a great finish to your eyes. Apply a light, neutral base color to your whole lid first to prevent creasing, then add a more medium color to your eyelide, running it along the arch where your eyeball and eye socket meet. Good luck!
I ordered eye shadow off the TV from Victoria Jackson - maybe 10 years ago and love it. How do I re-order it? It had 4 different shades and it was reds and maybe called browns? The compact is Navy blue I believe with VJ on the front?
I would suggest that you visit Victoria Jackson's website, www.vmakeup.com. On that site, you can browse through the different colors of
eyeshadow compacts they have. They look just like you described, 4-in-1, in a blue compact. But I am not sure which color selection you are referring to, or if they even have it still. They have a set called 'Red' or 'Night' but you will have to check to see exactly which one you are looking for. You can order the eye shadows directly from the website, which is quite easy. Good luck!
I have light brown skin and I want to know what lipstick, foundation, eyeshadow and eye liner which will suit my colouring of skin.
With your light brown skin, earth tones and dark greens and grays would look really great as
eye shadows. You can also work with plumb and coral
blushes. Also, pink
lipstick shades would look best on you, with
lip liner that is the same shade. A great look that you can pull off really well is
bronzer. It will add a sun-kissed look to your brown skin and look amazing.
Hey, I am Jemma and am 13. People say I am really pretty and stunning on the weekends. At school people call me ugly and a total slop! I only really get to see and meet guys on the school days but they avoid me. All the girls from school were suprised to see this picture of me on the weekend with beautiful straight hair, long eyelashes and plump lips and long legs! Please help me on some makeup I can wear to school, and some other tips to help! Thank you!
Well, my first tip would be to do whatever you do on the weekends on school days too! I don't see where there should be a big difference between one day and the next. I am sure that you look amazing every day, and the kids at school just aren't saying that. Since you are only 13, you don't want to wear too much
makeup to school, since it will look over done. If you have clear, healthy
skin, you probably don't need any
foundation. I would suggest just
mascara and
eye shadow. Since it is summer, wear bright
eye shadow colors like plums and pinks. One other tip to look great - remember that you look great! If you look beautiful on the weekend, then you look beautiful every other day too and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
What eye shadow should I use for my black eyes and what lipstick? I'm black.
If your
skin has warm undertones, stick with orange, honey, and cinnamon
eye shadows. If you have cool undertones, try blues, purples, and pinks. If your skin is very dark, wear
lipstick in the dark currant and plum shades, but if you have medium dark skin, wear coffees and brownish reds.
Can you tell me which makeup product can make my face luminous like the stars on TV?
One product that I have found works well to create luminous faces is MAC Hyper Real SPF 15 FX Pro
Foundation. It has special pearlescent pigments for a satin finish. I know lots of the stars and professional makeup artists love to use
MAC makeup. You can finish it off with a Hyper/Real Pressed Powder by MAC for added radiance.
I have never worn makeup. But I really want to look good. I am fat and inexperienced in makeup stuff. Any advice on how to still look good?
Don't be so hard on yourself! Looking good is easy! The most important part of looking good is feeling good. So again, don't be so hard on yourself. And
makeup isn't hard. If you want to use some makeup to help you feel more pretty, here is what I recommend. Start with a little
liquid foundation. Just choose a color that matches the inside of your wrist. Put a light amount all over your face, and then finish it off with some powder that is the same shade. Put a line of
eyeliner right above your top eyelashes, and then apply a touch of
eye shadow. Finish off your look with
mascara. Just a touch of makeup will brighten your look and leave you feeling beautiful!
Hey. I have naturally pale skin and that doesn't bother me. I have this really nice virgin vie foundation which gives my skin a healthy glow but I don't like wearing a lot of makeup. What could I use instead of foundation?
A tinted
moisturizer might be perfect for you. That would keep your face hydrated and add just a touch of coverup, without the thickness of a
foundation.
What can I put on over my make up to get rid of that chalky look?
Your
makeup shouldn't look chalky. This could mean that you are either using too much
foundation, or perhaps the wrong shade for your skin. I would recommend trying a brand that has a light coverage. Put three small dots of foundation on each of your cheeks and two on your forehead. Work these in with a
brush or makeup sponge, but never your fingers. I always like to apply powder over my foundation to help control shine. Hopefully this will help with the chalky look. To pick a foundation that is your right color, go to the store with no makeup on and use the samples they provide to match one to your skin, or match the color to the underside of your wrist. Also, keep your face
moisturized before you ever apply foundation. Let me know if this doesn't help with the chalkiness. Or, you can always apply a subtle
blush over your makeup; that will also help cover up any chalky looks!
I want a foundation that will help cover my spots and that's not very pricey... is there any type you could recommend?
If spots are a big problem for you, try a
concealer under your
foundation. One foundation that I am trying right now and isn't too expensive is
L'Oreal's Infallible. It seems to work well and lasts all day!
What eye makeups will look good on my hazel green eyes?
Neutral colors of
eye shadow work best with hazel eyes. Stick to the brown bases. That said, light peaches and oranges also work well.
Bobbi Brown and
MAC have great colors for hazels eyes so check them out!
How can you do three diffrent types of makeup and still look pretty?
I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about wearing three different brands of
makeup at the same time? Some
makeup brands mix well with others, and with some it is best to only use it with other products by the same brand.
Spa & Body
Hi, my upper lip is kind of green this week. I think its because of shaving? Can you pleaseee tell me why this is? Also can you tell me how to prevent it and if it will go? Thanks
The green is actually the dark hair under your skin that is showing through. I would recommend letting the hair grow out a bit before
shaving it off again. Have you tried
waxing your upper lip, or just shaving? Waxing may help to lessen the green color as compared to shaving. And don't worry, it will go away!
I have a question about facial hair. It's not just "mustache" hair, and it is not dark like a man but I'm just kind of a "hairy" person. I know that we all have hair all over our bodies but I have a light fine hair on my face and I'm getting to the age where I have to periodically pluck some unusually long hairs accassionally and I can live with that but what I'm trying to describe is more like "peach fuzz". When the light hits my face it really stands out and especially around my bone structure (?). I don't know what other women do about this beauty issue,I would never consider shaving and it just seems like an awful lot to be plucking but I'm getting more and more anxious about it, I have thought about "Nair" for the face but have never gotten very good results from those kinds of products and have never considered using it all over my face. I'm not in a position to spend alot of money going to someone to have it "all" removed. Please if you have any helpful advice I would appriciate it. Tina
Most of the women I have talked to who don't like their peach fuzz (because we all have it!) decide to wax it off from time to time. Some women do an at home wax, while others prefer to go to a salon. Salon waxes are usually less painful, but do cost more. If you decide you want to try to wax at home, hot wax is always best. Some great products that aren't too expensive include Sally Hansen Lavender Spa Wax Facial Wand or Sally Hansen. Also, if you aren't interested in waxing, there is a new product called Vaniqa, made by The Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and The Gillette Company that was recently approved by the FDA. This topical cream reduces the growth of facial hair in women. This cream is only available with a prescription, so talk to your doctor if you are interested in learning more.

It may take a little longer than some programs that promise to help you drop tons of weight instantly, but it is definitely the healthiest and longest lasting way to lose weight. With some of these miracle diets or pills, you gain the weight back instantly as soon as you stop the program. What I do, and I have found that it works really well, is to eat only whole grains (this includes breads, pasta, tortillas, cereals, etc) instead of white breads. Include this in your regular diet, with lots of proteins, fruits, vegetables and dairy. Along with eating, I've heard that if you eat 5 bites less at every meal, you will lose tons of weight. Along the same lines, you are only supposed to eat until you are 80% full and then wait for 20 minutes or so. After that time, you will feel completely full and you will stop yourself from overeating and adding extra body fat.
Now to exercising. Try to get an active workout for 30 minutes every day, and don't do the same thing every day. A routine that I love is to run a couple of miles three times a week (Tues, Thurs, Sat) and to do pilates the other three days (Mon, Wed, Fri). I just started this new exercise plan a week ago, and already I am noticing a difference. Choose something that you will enjoy and that it won't be hard to stick with.

I have a question cuz I was wondering you know when you do an expression in your face? And then you end up with these wrinkles if you keep doing it. Is there a cheap product that really works to condense your skin or to shrink it??? Please anwser me!
Also, how do you take away the round shadow underneath your eyes? I already tried sleeping a lot. I slept for 2 complete days, day and night.. and I already investigated if it was from too much sun explosure and its not!!!!!!!! Help me - it looks like if some one punched my eye.
One more thing how do you get people to not notice you have a very high forehead?????? Cuz my friend needs help and she dosn't want to subscribe. Please and thank you!!!!!!!
Ok, to answer your first question - there are a lot of creams out there that work to fight wrinkles. Some quality products that aren't too expensive are Garnier Anti-Wrinkle Cream, Avon Anti-Wrinkle Cream, or Susan Lucci's Endless Youth.
Now for the shadow's under your eyes. Here are the most common causes of dark circles under eyes: fatigue, poor circulation, extra-thin skin under the eyes, hyper-pigmentation, excess sun exposure, illness or allergies. You've already ruled out fatigue and sun exposure, so it could be any of the others. If you've had it for a while than it's probably not illness. Here are some things you can try: cut dairy out of your diet for awhile to see if that's the culprit. I don't know if this is a problem for you, but using drugs can cause dark circles under your eyes, so if you do use drugs, stop! It could be genetic, which means there isn't a lot you can do about it besides try to cover it up with makeup and concealer. I know it sounds like I am rambling, but I'm just trying to think of every cause or tip I can to help you out. Oh, one last tip. Vitamins E and K are great for getting rid of dark circles under the eyes.
Ok, now on to your friend's question. The best way to hide a high forehead is with your haircut. The easiest way to accomplish this is with side-swept bangs. Straight bangs don't work for all face shapes, and since I don't know what face shape your friend has, I would definitely recommend side swept bangs. They work with all face shapes and hair lengths and do wonders to hide high foreheads. Also, tell her to part her hair on the side and not down the middle. And never slick her hair back. Besides this, tell her she needs to accentuate her eyes and cheekbones to draw attention from her forehead. Good luck!
Hey it's Kayla, how do you get rid of iratation bumps from shaving? Again, how long would it take?
Here are some tips for getting rid of irritation bumps from
shaving: after you shave, soak a wash cloth in as hot of water as you can stand and then cover your legs, or the affected area, for two minutes. This increases the blood flow and will help prevent irritation bumps. Also, don't touch your skin after you shave for 8 hours, as the oils in your hands might cause irritation. And don't forget to use a good moisturizer! On top of this, while shaving, don't press down too hard, as it can irritate the skin and don't shave against the grain of the hair, shave in the direction that the hair lies. Another good tip is to make sure that your razor is sharp and clean. A dull or rusted razor can cause major skin irritation. Hope that helps! Oh, and all of these tips should take care of irritation bumps immediately, or even prevent them!
Hey it's Kayla, where can you find stuff for stretch marks? I know you said shea butter, but where would that be? And how long does it take for them to go away?
You can buy
shea butter at almost any store where you would buy other skin care products. Sometimes it is cheaper at natural food or health stores such as GMC. You can also buy it at Bath and Body Works. If you can't find a store near you that sells it, you can order it online from any number of stores. Also, keep in mind that stretch marks don't necessarily ever go away without expensive surgery, you can only lessen their appearance and prevent their future occurance. It is an ongoing process and could take months. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, so sorry. Oh, and if you do use shea butter, try to get unrefined shea butter rather than refined. It is better and more effective on your skin. It should say on the packaging whether it is refined or not. Unrefined shea butter can be difficult to use since it is more stiff, so just warm it up a bit. Sorry I can't be more specific about what stores to go to, but since I don't know where you live, I don't know exactly what stores are in your area. If you have a local Wal-mart, they should have shea products in the skin care section. Good luck!
My dream has always been to become a model but I have a little "pooch" under my belly button that gets in the way of my having a flat stomach. how can I get rid of it without having some type of surgery? I've tried running and crunches but all it got me was hidden muscle! lol. Please tell me if you have any suggested work routines, tips, or secrets ;)
According to certified personal trainer Jesse Cannone, 'the most effective way of flattening your stomach is a combination of strength training (with a extra focus on mid-section), cardiovascular exercise (short, hard workouts), and stable blood sugar (keeps you from adding additional fat and makes it easier for your body to use fat for fuel).'
He goes on to say that to properly exercise your ab muscles, you need to do forward, side, and rotational exercises, since your ab muscles do all that work. Crunches, side crunches, and standing twists are examples of appropriate exercises. The point of cardio workouts is to increase your metabolism, making it less likely that your body will store calories. And by stabilizing your blood sugar, you make it easier for your body to burn fat. He recommends feeding your body every two to three hours with the energy it needs such as fruits, vegetables, proteins, nuts, and whole grains. The whole article is great and has great tips for revealing your flat stomach! You can read the whole thing at
Web Guides.com. Good luck!
Hey it's Kayla, I've heard cocoa butter gets rid of stretch marks and scars (which I have). But it's taking to long, and I was wondering if shea butter works faster. If not, is there anything else I can use to get rid of scars and stretch marks?
Shea butter is a great way to get rid of stretch marks and scars because it has an anti-elastase characteristic. Vitamins A and E are another great way to prevent and get rid of stretch marks. Good luck!
I think I have cellulite (however you spell it), but I'm not sure. So can you tell me what it looks like, and maybe send me a picture or something. Thanks!
Cellulite is a dimpling of the skin caused by collections of fat the push against the skin. It looks like cottage cheese, or the surface of an orange peel. It is most commonly found on the thighs, stomach, and buttox. Although there are lots of products that promise miracle relief for cellulite, the only proven way to get rid of it is through lowering your overall body fat by exercise and drinking lots of water. I can't send pictures through this email, but I will write an article with more about cellulite and include some pictures there! Good luck!
Hi, My name is Claudia I recently signed up here and I love the tips and the effort but I also have a variety of questions since the advice is awsome. I have combination skin. And I'm willing to use some skin cream which do you recomend me?? And I have wavy and fizzy hair. I know the best solution is to use a lot of heat after it's dryed up but right now I'm using Paul Mitchel Color care shampoo and conditioner even though I have not dyed my hair but the proffesional at the salon told me it cares the hair color from the sun... and I wish a suggestion for my type of hair I need a lot of musturizing shampoo to but I don't know waht type of shampoo to use and I might even, be making my hair worst but is the shampoo I'm using right now good which one should I use that isn't so expensive????? Also, how do I get ridd of my eye shadow under my eyes???? How do u get rid of pimples??? Last question is that... how do I get ridd of my lips being dry exept for lip gloss all the time?????thanks!!!
Thanks for reading! I have combination skin too and there are a couple of
moisturizers that I really like and that don't make my
skin too oily. One is
Dove Deep Moisture Facial Lotion with SPF. This product is great for your skin, plus has SPF. Lately, I've been using a lot of natural products, since my skin is sensative and doesn't respond too well to chemicals, and my favorite facial lotion is
Zia Natural Ultimate Oil-Free Moisturizer. It's a little more expensive, but lasts for a long time and works really well on combination skin.
Now on to your
hair! You're right about needing moisturizing
shampoos and
conditioners for your hair.
Paul Mitchell products can be expensive, and aren't always so much better than what you can buy for less. Some great brands that are more affordable are Dove Advanced Care Sheer Moisture,
Garnier Fructis for Dry or Damaged Hair, or Thermasilk. Also, you might want to try Dove's Intense Frizz Control for Very Dry or Thick Hair. It can do a lot to help control frizz and isn't very expensive.
I'm not sure I understand your next question about getting rid of eye shadow under your eyes. I think you are asking about dark circles under your eyes, but if not, let me know and I will answer your real question! The best way to get rid of dark circles under your eyes is to get more sleep and make sure you are getting all your nutrients. If they still don't go away, they could be hereditary or caused by too much sun exposure.
Now some tips for getting rid of
pimples. You can put a dab of toothpaste on them overnight to help dry them out. You can also
wash your face with warm salt water twice a day or rub raw garlic on your face to help heal acne without scarring. Egg whites are another great way to dry out acne. If you want less home remedies, you can try products from the store. Again, I like natural products, so I use Zia Natural Acne Treatment Mask, which can also be used as an overnight spot treatment for acne.
And your last question about dry lips. A couple of important tips are to not lick your lips, to drink lots of water, and make sure you are getting even Vitamin B2, riboflavin, because a deficieny in that will cause dry lips. A gentle
exfolitation from time to time can also help your lips stay moist. Put a little lip cream on a toothbrush and rub your lips. That's what the celebrities do! And last, papaya makes a great moisturizer mask for lips. Just mash some fresh papaya and lay down and let it sit on your lips for about 15 minutes. And beyond all this, just use chapstick! Don't worry, it's not possible to become addicted to lip balm and it isn't bad for you, so don't worry if you use it a lot. I know I do!
Well, I think I answered all your questions, but let me know if I left anything out. Have a great day Claudia!
Are there any natural lip plumpers?
There are tons of different brands of lip plumpers you can buy to enhance your lips without surgery or injections. You can buy these at any standard beauty store. One great brand is Lip Fusion. Bath and Body Works also has a great product, Lip Plumper, that works in minutes. The one time I tried lip plumper products, though, was an interesting experience. It made my lips sting and go numb. They did become more full however.
Hi, I want to know a really effective home remedy for cellulite. I'm desperate. I've had this for years and I know it's genetically related. Help!
There are tons of great home remedies for cellulite. Here are the top ones. First of all, I assume you are already doing this, but drinking lots of water helps with cellulite because it helps your body cleanse your cells and not store fluids that lead to cellulite. Another tip is to decrease your salt intake. Salt increases your body’s fluid retention, leading to more cellulite. And of course, there is exercise. The most effective kind of exercise for cellulite is aerobic exercise that gets your heart beat up, not just exercises designed for your thighs or buttox. Ok, now here are some other remedies you can try from home. Mix 30 drops of juniper essential oil with 4 oz of oil olive and massage it in to the problem areas. Or you can grind dark coffee beans into a powder and mix it with equal parts of moisturizing lotion. Massage this mixture into the affected areas for several minutes and then shower off. You can repeat this everyday. One more: mix 1 cup of grapefruit juice, 1 cup of corn oil, and 2 tsp of dried thyme. Massage this into the cellulite areas and cover with plastic wrap then apply a heating pad over each area for five minutes. Good luck!
Hi! Is it true that shaving makes your hair grow back thicker and darker? Because shaving seems so easy and convenient, but these rumours are scaring me! =P
No,
shaving does not make your hair grow back thicker or darker. It does not affect the roots of your hair at all. The color and thickness of your hair is based on genetics, not shaving. So shave away!
My name is jennifer and I dont think I have the look or the clothes expeacallty the weight loss and Im 11 years old and 123 pounds what sould I do?
Jennifer, here's a little secret. Having a certain 'look' is all about your attitude! I'm not suggesting you become stuck up, but if you act confident and assertive, people will see you that way. You're at a tough age, where it seems like everyone is watching you and judging you, but don't worry about it. Remember that you are beautiful and talented. You sound like you want to lose some weight. I wouldn't be too concerned about it at your age, but you can make sure that you are getting 30 minutes of active exercise every day and that you eat healthy foods (for the most part - don't forget to still have fun and eat junk sometimes! it's part of growing up!). Make sure you eat something healthy for breakfast, because that will get your body going in the morning and give you the energy you need throughout the day. Be optimistic and have fun! Here are some great colors for the end of summer and fall that you can buy clothes in: dark purples, blues, reds, and, my favorite, browns. What is your hair color and eye color? That will affect what you should wear. Good luck and keep me posted Jennifer!
I sweat off my deodorant a lot. How can I prevent this from happening and what can I do?
It sounds like you need a stronger deodorant. You can go to a doctor who can prescribe something stronger than what you can buy off the shelf. You can also have a Botox injection under your arms to freeze your sweat glands, but this only lasts about six months and is expensive. Or if you want to try something easier and more natural, mix half baking soda and half corn starch and use that instead, or along with, your deodorant.
I have waxed my hair in my leg but it has resulted to scars. How can I remove those scars and get smooth leg. Pls suggest me a solution. Becoz of that I am not able to wear skirt.
The top three things I would recommend would be vitamin e gel, mederma, or shea butter. All of these things help reduce scars. You can buy all three things at a local drug store.
What self tanning lotion do you recommend? There are so many out there!
I like Neutrogena Build-a-Tan Gradual Sunless Tanning Lotion. It works gradually over time, so you can control how light or dark you want your
skin to be. I've also found that it doesn't leave streaks like some self
tanning lotions do.
What natural ingredients to kick body odour out and why do I get sweat easier than my friends? And how to avoid wetness under my arm? Because I live in Indonesiia than known as a tropical country.
One way to treat excessive underarm odor is to use a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide (3%) in water and wash your underarm with that. Some more natural underarm deodorants include witch hazel leaf or extract, orange peel mixed with lemon peel, or rose astringent lotion.
How can I get a tan by going to the tanning bed when I have naturally pale skin?
Be careful when going to tanning beds.
Tanning can lead to
skin cancer, even when you are using tanning beds and not sun tanning, especially if you have fair skin. If you do decide that you want to go tanning, only go for a few minutes and space out your visits. Have you tried sunless tanning?

May 8th, 2006 at 4:42 pm
A product that I have heard a lot of good things about is tanning oil by Australian Gold. It should be able to help you get that glow. But be careful! Too much Tanning is not good for your skin.

how soon after a perm can I wash my hair?
May 12th, 2006 at 6:30 pm
You should wait 24 hours to wash your hair after getting a perm. If you wash it before that, it will kill your curls!
June 2nd, 2006 at 2:32 pm
hey i just dyed my hair black and i think it looks really bad on me can i dye it medium brown?will it show up?
June 2nd, 2006 at 3:29 pm
Brown won’t show up over black. You will either have to bleach the black and then put color over it, which will be very damaging, or wait for the black to fade so you can color over it. Good luck!
June 5th, 2006 at 1:45 pm
I have a dark brown ash colored hair. I have been lighten it for years and I want to go light or back darker but I don’t know which one will look better. I have fair skin right now but I tend to tan easily. I have dark black coarse eyebrows and a big nose with big green eyed. If I go lighter should I dye my brows too? or If I go darker will it make my nose look bigger? Please HELP ME!!
June 5th, 2006 at 5:59 pm
My recommendation would be to go darker. It will save you the trouble of having to dye your eyebrows, which you would need to do if you decided to go lighter. Your darker hair shouldn’t make your nose look bigger. With your skin tone - tanning easily - dark hair will look really great!
June 9th, 2006 at 3:24 am
Use a good built in tan moisturiser. I use dove summer body glow and sure enough, even in the winter days had a tan. You can get it from most places, from wollies to priceline outlets!

I found my toe thumbs nail very strange lately. It has a yellow spot. Then this morning i woke up and realised that it has became like whole. The spot actualy is a part of my toe which i found that doesn’t stick to the skin. That i want to know is how to stick the nail and the skin together again
? And i wish to have some cheap, easy or natural treatment for my tou nails. Thank you so much. Muaaaackssss…….!
June 9th, 2006 at 11:25 am
It sounds like toenail fungus to me, but it is hard to tell without actually seeing. But turing yellow, and falling off makes me think it is a fungus. One natural treatment that I have heard of to deal with fungus is futspa Nail Drops. They are easy to use and help make your nails healthy and strong again.

I used to have dyed blonde hair and now i have dyed it a choclate brown colour the roots are fine but the ends have gone green please help
June 12th, 2006 at 10:26 am
If you colored your hair with permanent dye, you are just going to have to wait for it to grow out, but if you used semi-permanent you have more options. I have heard of a few different tricks to get the green out of your hair. The best way is to wash your hair as much as possible. A couple of good things to try washing with are Dawn dishsoap or baby shampoo. Or a lemon rinse will help your hair get rid of the green faster too! Good luck!

My hair came out instantly after perming my hair 1 month after I colored it. I used Wella Color charm. I used optimum Perm. What happened. How can I restore my hair back? I was told to use alphagee products. is this correct?
June 15th, 2006 at 10:45 am
While some women can get away with chemically treating their hair more often, most of us should wait at least three months between colors or perms to give the hair time to recover from the chemicals. ApHOGEE is a great brand to use to restore your hair. Be sure to use it according to the directions! Good luck!

What should I use with my face which has fickle?
July 8th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
Hi, I have a petite face, high forehead, and naturally wavy hair with a bit of a wiriness to it. My hair is thinner in the front (bangs area) but thicker in the back. I want a nice short haircut to compliment my face shape and show off my eyes but I want to keep my forehead covered. Any suggestions? Thanks.
July 10th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
A haircut with a side part would look best on you. It sounds like you have a heart shaped face. Me too! To draw attention away from your forehead, cut layers that start at your cheekbones. Side swept bangs would also work really well on you. A side part with side swept bangs would both cover your forehead and make up for the thinner hair in front. I would put a lot of layers in the back, as that looks great with thick hair!

Hi!
I’d be grateful for some tips. I just love makeup, but the problem is I get tired of using the same styles for weeks. It’s hard to find any that don’t go overboard, as I’m very pale (not that it bothers me). Shades are sometimes quite hard to find, too. I’m still a teenager, so no red lipstick is appropriate.
To go with my fair skin I have green(ish), kind of small eyes and naturally plump enough lips (though some extra wouldn’t hurt). What I’d like to do is highlight them both in a fresh, classy way.
Thank you!

Veera,
Fair skin and greenish eyes? That’s me too! So I can help with this. Yes, it does get dull to do the same makeup over and over. And I like that you don’t like to go overboard on your makeup! Very wise. Well, the best color to draw out your green eyes with is plum. Use a plum eyeliner. And don’t do black mascara. With your fair skin and lighter eyes, brownish black mascara will look better on you. For eye shadow shades, I would recommend pinks, browns, and mauves. Even wine colors would look great. Nothing too dark, with your fair skin. For your lips, I would say the same things. Light pinks and wine colors would also look great for your lips. Use a lip liner to add extra volume to your lips, just be sure to match the color to your lipstick. Avoid the temptation to use a darker lip liner. Best of luck!
August 11th, 2006 at 5:38 pm
Hailey,
One product that I have heard works wonders with curly and frizzy hair is Biosilk hair serum. Now, keep in mind I haven’t tried it because I don’t have curly hair (I am so jealous, I’ve always wanted my hair to be curly!). But the people who I know who have used it have loved how soft and manageable it makes their hair. You can put it in your hair and blow dry for best results! Good luck Hailey!

Kayla,
Well, there are five main skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination, or sensative. Normal skin is smooth and has a clear complexion and not visible pores. It’s not really dry or oily. Dry skin is prone to flaking and often appears dull. To test to see if you have dry skin, wash your face and then let it sit for 30 minutes. Don’t put anything on it. If your skin feels tight and rough, you probably have dry skin. Oily skin tends to be shiny and is very susceptible to breakouts. To test for oily skin, wait until the middle of the day and take a piece of toilet paper and hold it against your face for about 30 seconds. If the paper comes away with visible dirt, makeup, or oil, you have oily skin. Just see which description most closely matches your skin and you’ll know what your skin type is!

Kayla,
Suave is not very good for your hair. Their shampoos and conditioners contain ingredients that strip your hair of its natural oils. Their body products are fine to use, though. If you are looking for a good shampoo that is really cheap, you can try VO5, or Herbal Essences. Herbal Essences is nice because it has more natural ingredients. Dove is another really good brand, but it costs a litte bit more. Good luck Kayla!

Claudia,
The best way to get the wave and frizziness out of your hair would be to use heat. My hair does the same thing after I wash it. I have to blow dry my hair with straightening product in it in order to get it to be smooth and flat. After you have dried your hair, you can also use a flat iron to smooth out any remaining frizz. If your hair is really frizzy and won’t calm down, you can get it chemically straightened. It’s kind of like a perm, only they use the chemicals to make your hair straight instead of curly. I would try lots of heat first, though. And be sure you are using moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Often hair gets frizzy because it doesn’t have enough moisture. Plus, with all the drying and straightening, your hair will need all the extra moisture it can get. Good luck!

Hey it’s Kayla, I have acne scars on face, and I’ve tried lavender oil but it just clogs my pores and gives me more pimples on my face! Please help!
September 4th, 2006 at 9:22 am
Hey it’s Kayla, this comment is for the new website you might make, I think it’s a great idea, and you should put stuff about how to treat acne and stuff, and what products best for you.
September 6th, 2006 at 2:53 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, how long does it take for the lemon juice to work for freckles and for acne scars?
September 6th, 2006 at 2:55 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, how do you get rid of dark circles under your eyes?
P.S. if it’s a home remedie or cream, how long does it take?
September 11th, 2006 at 11:43 am
[…] While answering one of the Ask Beauty Secrets questions I received, I found a great article online about how to get that flat stomach that all of us want. The information in it was great and maybe a little different than what we typically hear, and I found the article to be quite informative and useful. It was written by Jesse Cannone, a certified personal fitness trainer. I thought you all might find the tips he shares beneficial too, so here it is. Enjoy! […]

Hey it’s Kayla, I have dark freckles, so does that mean it will take longer for them to fade away with the lemon juice? If so, how longer?
September 11th, 2006 at 6:48 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, where can you find stuff for stretch marks? I know you said shea butter, but where would that be? And how long does it take for them to go away?
September 11th, 2006 at 7:29 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, how do you get rid of iratation bumps from shaving? Again, how long would it take?
September 18th, 2006 at 5:32 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, I have wavy hair with a bit of curliness (curls), and I have dry ends at the bottom of my hair, and frizziness at the top and throughout my hair, and my hair is sort of puffy (not really I think it’s more frizzy). I want it to be straight with no frizz, no curls and a few waves. I use Dove products for my hair do they have anything that could help my hair? If not, what should I use (any home remedies, products)?
October 12th, 2006 at 6:40 am
I was wondering, is Clearasil a good product to get rid of acne? Or is Biore better? Do you have any suggestions to what products to use for acne, like maybe a combination of diffrent products, or one product line. Oh and my skin is combination.
October 12th, 2006 at 3:50 pm
What are the best products in Biore (like what is the name of the facial cleanser, toner, and moisturizer or acne fighting cream)? What are the stores you got your Acne-Free stuff in?

How do you apply eyeliner on your eyelid?

I’m thinking of dyeing or highlighting my hair. But I don’t know what to do. I have light brown hair on the outside of my air but on th inside it’s dark brown. It’s also dark brown at the top. The blond higlights I put in a while ago are slowly coming out. So it’s a dirty blond on the outside layer, with dark brown on the inside layer, dirty blond at the bottom and dark brown at the top. My eyebrows are dark brown. So it doesn’t really match. I heard you’re suppose to stay close to your eyebrow colour. So I either want to dye my hair a brown shade or re-highlight it blond. But nothing red, black or too blond or too brown. Please help!
October 12th, 2006 at 4:49 pm
My freckles haven’t faded away yet and it’s been over a month now. Also my acne scars haven’t faded away either. Please help!!
October 22nd, 2006 at 6:09 pm
I’ve think I’m going to go with light brown from Natural Instincts by Clairol. Is this a good product or choice?
October 22nd, 2006 at 6:11 pm
My freckles are genetic, and the’ve slowly faded away. Same with my acne scas they’ve slowly faded away. So should I just keep using the lemon juice?
October 23rd, 2006 at 3:10 pm
Since I’m dyeing my hair, won’t I half to use a colour treated shampoo and conditioner? But I still have frizzy hair! My hair isn’t dry, but it’s just frizzy! Help!
October 25th, 2006 at 7:20 am
Since I’m dyeing my blond hair light brown, what about my hair that’s already brown? I just want it one colour, the colour it is at the top of my hair. But I’m afraid of making it lighter. Please help!
October 30th, 2006 at 7:10 pm
My hair turned out great. But I still see some blond in my highlights. How long should I wait until I re-dye my hair the same colour? I was thinking in April is that long enough?
November 3rd, 2006 at 10:15 am
I bought the Acne-Free stuff, but for the third bottle (the smaller one), do you wash it off or leave it on, because it doesn’t say. I think you wash it off but I’m not sure.
November 5th, 2006 at 11:15 am
I was also wondering when I should apply my lemon juice because everytime I use it I feel a if it takes some of the Acne-Free stuff off my face. What should I do?
November 6th, 2006 at 4:14 pm
Help! My skin is all stingy and red this morning! I just applied the last Acne-Free bottle and it made my skin do that I think, because I didn’t apply the lemon juice since that happened. Now it’s late in the afternoon and my skin isn’t stingy, but it’s still red, just not as red as this morning. But it’s only red on my cheeks and chin, and I apply the Acne-Free treatment all over my face. What should I do, I feel like nothing works for my skin!
November 7th, 2006 at 2:52 pm
What’s a good home remedie for acne?
November 10th, 2006 at 10:51 am
My skin is all dry because of that Acne-Free stuff. But it’s slowly getting rid of my acne scars and acne.
November 10th, 2006 at 10:52 am
My skin is all dry because of that Acne-Free stuff. But it’s slowly getting rid of my acne scars and acne.Te red is still there to.
November 23rd, 2006 at 4:22 pm
Well the Acne-Free stuff works fine now, my acne is going, and I only use the stuff in the morning, and I use a moisturizer at night. But last night I just got Proactiv Solution in the mail (I ordered it months ago and nothing happened so that’s when I turned to you for help). But the bottles aren’t as big as the Acne-Free stuff, so I’ll keep it anyway. I guess this isn’t really a question, more of a thanks for introducing me to the Acne-Free stuff. So I’ll let you know if Proactiv Solution is the best as people say it is.

Have you ever seen What Not To Wear? Well if not all it is really is a guy and a girl who get phone calls from people if they don’t like the looks of their friends or family, like how the dress and stuff. So basically they throw out there whole wardrobe and give them a $5000 dollar shopping spree to buy on clothes and shoes and acceroies. After that they do their hair and makeup. Anyway this one episode they have a girl and she’s dyed her hair a lot (like me exept highlight a lot)and the guy that does the hair has to cut off the damaged parts and re-dye it properly. I think that’s what my hair needs. But what would you call that? I also wanted my hair layered and re-dyed again in April. Please tell me you get what I’m saying!!
January 17th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Hey it’s Kayla, well I’ve been using this self tanner for my face and body. So far so good for my body, but for my face it looks darker and lighter in some spots!! Please help!!
January 17th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
Well my hair is now layered and looks great! But it won’t stay straight!! I own a starightening iron and when I straighten it, it gets all frizzy and dry. I have tried many products to get my hair soft, shiny and non-frizz, but I can’t find anything. I heard that you half to always protect your hair when using a straighting iron. I’ve also heard that some people’s hair don;t straighten or it could be the condition of there hair. I am also confused about the straightening process (like do you wet your hair, blow dry it, etc.). I’ve also heard of a permanent straighting process, but don’t know what it is, or the price.
January 17th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
I know I said that I’m going to keep my hair brown, but I can’t!! So I want to get highlights with diffrent shades of light brown-dark blond. but I don’t know what the process is called.
January 17th, 2007 at 3:40 pm

What can you do when your mascara ends up under your eyes, making you look like a raccoon? I apply shadow base, use waterproof mascara, powder, only use one coat-nothing seems to stop the black from ending up down my face and making me look like I slept with my makeup on. Help!

In regards to Marty’s comment about soft water…I too moved to a place that has a water softener and I hated it. My baby fine and thin hair did not style well as a result. Totally having bad hair days……….UNTIL…….on another website, someone suggested to use Garnier Fructis fortifying deep conditioner “Sleek and Shine.” What an incredible difference for the BETTER!!! My hair was restored with so much vitality!!! I continue to use my same shampoo, but I read that its best to just run the shampoo over my hair strands instead of lathering it up… the suds made my hair a tangly mess and more unmanageable.

I have dark color upper lips and light color lower lips. Always dry in condition. I tried lip balm, some petroleum jelly, but no use.
Even I am using lakme lipstick. Then also it is not stick on my lips. The lipstick, lip balm will not stick on my lips not more than 10 minutes.
The same condition regarding eyes also. Eye liner wil not stay longer.
Can you suggest some tips or what type of cosmetic I hav to use.

Okay so I’m 23 and have been dyeing my dirty brown hair for about 4 years this deep brown auburn color. My hair is really long but the problem I’m having is that when my light roots grow out they are sooo noticable. And now I’m thinking maybe I jus wanna dye it light brown with a lil highlight to get it back. However I’m having troubles removing the red. Is there a product I can use to get the redness, coppery color out. Or is there another color dye. Like I know that the oppisite color on the color wheel with reverse the color. Like putting purple in coppery blond makes it bright blond. So what can I use on the red to get it to jus a brown instead of brownish red! Thanks
